The Army said there are no legal provisions that allow it to consider adding accrued interest, adjustments for inflation or compensation for lost benefits.

I am thinking if they really put their heads together they could find way.

They did not even have the decency to state that he was "Not Guilty". 63 freaking years and they still screw him over. Gotta love this country and how it treats people who served.

When you infer to 'they' I'm sure your mean 'US' as we citizens are accountable for the actions of our elected officials.
Not to discount your inference of 'they' as some entity that we have no control over, but I do hear this quite often as there is a disconnect with our politicians and 'US'.
'WE' allow 'THEM' to do what they do, so 'WHOM' is responsible?
In a short note, 'THEY' do not represent 'US', 'THEY' represent themselves.

Yes and no. Yes I do agree with you that we the people are ultimately responsible for our government. I believe I have stated that as well of the years on this forum. In this case I see the 'them' as more the bureaucracy of the military and government over sight. Yes if we would hire (vote) a better class of people perhaps this stuff would not happen as much (almost certainly not as much) but it seems to me that the folks even farther down the ranks who were involved in this could have thought to them selves that the US screwed over these men 63 years ago. We took 15 months away from them. Made their life that much harder by leaving the stain of a dishonorable discharge and a criminal record with them for life and all we are giving him is $700. That is wrong and we need to fix that ... what can I do? I guess we the people got what we asked for and I get the feeling that we are not all that much better than the hammer heads that we elect. This country is so screwed up I have no idea where to start much less whether or not it can even be fixed. My fear is that is too far gone to repair.

This man needs a good lawyer who is versed in "tai quan DO!" (that's kick butt in slang, not to be confused with tai kwan doe)
