What's new

York Police Back in the AIR 2.

I'm guessing there was only one bidder because of price. A little online search I did revealed the minutes of a York council meeting and the price voted in by council to pay for this is only 428$ per hour flown which includes all costs associated with running the helo including normal maintenance and pilot.

I'm not sure what an EC120 leases out for normally but $428/hour just seems really low to me. Either the company can afford to bleed to get their foot in the door or there is some underground back scratching going on.

My 2 cents, over and out.

First things first....Vortex, Is that a picture of you or your girlfriend in your user profile?

$428 per hour. Does sound low. But it's problably the DOC of the 120 plus so much for pilot and engineer.

York Regional Police own the aircraft and National supplies the Pilot and engineer. As fore parts I would think the Police would have to pay the bill for that. But without seeing the contract you never know.
I would believe that the Police would also pay for the hanger rent and fuel in Buttonville or anywhere else the aircraft landed.

The contract maybe broken up many ways, one for A/C, Pilot, Engineer. Two for hanger, three for fuel, the list could go on and on. There are many ways to hide the real cost.

$428 per hour ???? It must be CHL !!!

Mr Viper,

Enquiring minds want to know, since you seem to know too much.

Are you Ex Silverline, or are you with National?

Hmmmm....Isn't just about anyone associated with Silverline now referred to as 'ex Silverline'?

Lets hope National has a better grip on things afterall the successful model is out there and has been running very well for a number of years now...(Hawks)

Mister who said anything about Mister.....

The question you ask, who am I or where do I work will have to remain "QT". Sorry....

Attention: Vortex Ring
You may choose to hide behing the cloak of a user name and make slurs about something you probably know nothing about but I choose not to. My name is Gerry Whalen and I am working contract for the company on one of their Bell 212s. I do not know much about the company but I did see them spend a lot of money on their 212s this spring and hire some excellent people and they certainly appear to be trying to raise their profile. All I can say is that they have treated me fairly and better than many.
This is one of the industries known for its bitching but we do it in house and we protect our own like a mother hen. When people like you go public with statements which border on libelous, it only hurts our entire business.
Before you commit to rash statements in future, maybe you should try and spend some of your own money and see what this game is really about.

When you get some experience in this business, you will probably learn about constructive criticism. But then again, we don't know about your experience, hiding behind that skirt.

Viper1, I sure don't think I asked for your address, social insurance number or anything. Just which side of the fence your home is. I just wonder why there is fear about it? Scared of management coming down on you? Are you bullied easily at work and at the schoolyard?
Don't be afraid. We'll protect you.

And Carholme, why the rash attack on Vortex? He didn't make those numbers up did he?

BoY!!!!!! here we go again......

I have no home......and I'm not on any side of a fence....
I'm still QT though....Sorry....
I've been in this business to long. Just check out Mag Seal's deleted comments....

Once again sorry....

Just to keep the ball rolling.I believe the response to Vortex Ring's post should be attacked,as I read the post early this morning, and I found the comments "bleed to get their foot in the door" and "underground backscratching" offensive. If Mr.Vortex Ring is an operator,he should deal with it on a business level, not an anonymous forum such as this. I am wondering if comments like those are in fact, marginally libellous. As a line pilot for numerous yrs.I have recieved employment from many companies over the yrs.and it is none of mine nor any other wage earners business as to how contracts are awarded or why.If Mr. V-Ring is an operator or a York politician ,fess up!!

I guess there could be several ways of looking at, both the comments, and this forum's reaction to them. Probobly there is merit in both.
Firstly, I don't believe if someone reported that PharmaPlus lowballs or 'bleeds a little' on Paper Towels at $0.99/roll in order to get customers in the store, there'd be much reaction....let alone libel lawyers beating down the doors. Been in the industry a number of years now and while I don't think it's exclusive to aviation ...we all seem to be getting a tad sensitve as of late.
With respect to the 'backscratching' reference, yes, contracts awarded from one private individual to another are, indeed, no one's business.Period. BUT contracts awarded from the public purse should be,and are public knowledge....hence the ability to score the numbers from the minutes....fair ball I'd say.

If the numbers don't add up to what is common knowledge, ie: operating costs and reasonable profit, then it's fair game to speculate....who out there still accepts the Warren Commission, CNN , or that Cretien was just 'helping out a fellow constituant with a loan application'
I'd like to think that here, anyways, we can differentiate between speculation and accusation.

My little stool pigeon just spilled the beans about this whole sordid affair and I nearly fell off my chair laughing...
I wondered what the gig was, now I know.
Oh how the spider web has been spun.

What is this TDK ???

You get all the laughing and how about us ???

How come can you be so insensitive !!!

I'm not all that insensitive, I cry during sad movies

But I might like to sit on my info for a bit, my poor informant might have a target on his back already. Besides, I might want to verify the story first, so I don't start any unfounded and libelous rumours, and become a victim of censorship

Well the contractor was changed and best wishes to the new operators....maybe it's good 'insurance' that things will run smoother, afterall one would not want to be too 'unprotected' 😉 afterall a job can't be complete until all the 'paperwork' is in order and as companies come and go....some we miss and some we know. :hide:
