Went to one for the first time yesterday. I forgot what naturally grown food actually tastes like. We picked Blackberries and Strawberries. They have a rich sweet taste to them that you just can't get with the big farm foods. The Zucchini we bought .... holy crap bat man. First off, I have never seen them that big in a store ... ever. We got some medium size ones that were about 8 inches long and the diameter of a base ball bat. They almost tasted sweet. Not even a hint of the bitter taste that a lot of the store bought ones have. They have all types of different vegies and fruit. I have no intention of going to a grocery store for that stuff ever again. OH yea, the prices are great. Blackberries were $4/lb, Strawberries $2/lb, Zucchini $2/lb, Tomatoes $2/lb and this is for all organic food.

I'll take my chances. If I start to have thoughts of limiting personal rights or seeking to invade foreign countries (with no valid reason) I'll take a run to Burger King and follow up with a Twinkie.

Any tomato or other vegitable is by it's make up is "Organic" same as coal is.

The entire "Organic" food Movement is nothing more then a marketing scam. On average you'll die in your 70's just like everyone else whether you eat "organic" or not.

Once again we've been duped.

Organic has to do with how they are grown not that they are plants. I have tasted the foods out of a farm verses out of the store and there is a huge difference in taste and quality. Given all the health risks caused by all the chemicals as it is, the fewer I take into my body the better. Diet, exercise and your life style in general have a huge impact on how long you will live and the quality of life.

Not everything is a scam. Go ahead and taste some food out of an organic farm in your area. First off you will be supporting your local economy. Second, you will learn what the food you eat should actually taste like. I forgot that zucchini should not have that bitter after taste but actually taste almost sweet. I for one have no intention of ever going back to a grocery store again for produce unless I absolutely have to.

What they fertilize with?
Manure usually has low NPK numbers.

Garf does make a valid argument, only as home grown (or local farms) does seem to taste better then mass produced veggies. I think thats the distinction rather then the "Organic" argument. That term means nothing to me as it is slapped on almost everything as a marketing ploy.

Mushroom Compost is popular to use instead of manure.

I agree that the term organic is abused but that is not to say that some who say they are organic are not truly organic. I spoke with the farmer who runs the little farm I went to and I am satisfied that he is as organic as they come and I know for a fact that I will never find any produce as fresh or as tasty as his.

I don't need a study to tell me eating food grown with out pesticides and other chemicals is wore than eating foods grown naturally. Eat all the garbare you want. Wash it down with a twinkie.
