WN has been leading alot of fare increase actions. Remember their hedges are expiring and their costs will climb considerably once they start paying spot market oil prices.

I guess "a lot" is relative, but of the 8 industry fare increases since labor day (plus UA's fuel surcharge just instituted) WN has initiated 1.

Remember their hedges are expiring and their costs will climb considerably once they start paying spot market oil prices.

With hedging going out to 2012, don't hold your breath till they start paying spot market prices (well, technically they pay market prices but offset that with hedge profits). Their costs will certainly increase as the hedged equivalent price increases, but based on their actions over the last few years I suspect that they'll add additional hedges if they perceive an opportunity.
