Not pointing any fingers...or making any accusations....I'm just kinda following a train of thought after reading the following links.........

And the train of thought that left the station (after reading the following links) is about the power of influential executives/wealthy and their effect on"the regular people" who work for a living...Now...ANYONE that understands the American political process pretty much accepts the fact that PAC's run the country...and there are 2 types of PAC's...those that represent the wealthy and powerful...and those that represent the the best interests of "the masses" .... And GENERALLY, the wealthy/powerful posess A-LOOOT more money and influence than "the masses (ie: working poor).....Now PAC's tell the politicians what to think and how to vote...if the politicians don't see it the PAC's way, then the PAC's find a "another" politician that will "help" them with their needs "politically" in the next election...And politicians (ESPECIALLY those on powerful commitees that oversee government agencies) understand that....and Airline PAC's are veeeeery persuasive...and POWERFUL !! And PAC's are run by people that want MAXIMUM profit for their dollar...and safety be damned...And you better believe that ALL airline PAC's make sure that the "appropriate" officials understand that....

The reason mainline airlines have always hated most of their employee groups is because they have been required (due to unions) to pay them a liviable wage....And the reason "some" mainline airlines absolutley DETEST their mechanics is becuase the mechanics have always operated under the principle of "MY family might be flying on this airplane...so it doesn't GO unless it's safe"... and sometimes that means doing the right thing...meaning...the plane doesn't go till it's RIGHT...

however...in SOME (insert airline name hear) airlines views, COST (ie: low paid scab/outsourced maintenance) is more important than safety....Now...there are SEVERAL airlines out there doing just fine (Southwest, Continental, Alaska, American and several LCC's ) without having to merge...so ya gotta wonder....why are NW, DL, UA pushing so HARD for the meregers..... Maybe they're so BADLY run, that they can't stave off the competition ??? So we'll just influence the "right people" so the industry HAS to "consolidate" and we don't have to compete with "well managed" companies...Anyway....I'm rambling ....this thread started out to be about how powerful people/PAC's/Industruies can "affect" governmental politicians/agencies that are tasked with protecting the "public's well-being".......
