Delta to Change LaGuardia Shuttle Schedule to Match US Airways

This seems odd. One of the "benefits" was if you missed one shuttle, you could hop on the next one operated by the other carrier. I guess this makes it less likely you will change carriers at the last minute.

US is selling the shuttle to DL to gain support and using the money to help finance the AA deal. Just kidding changing the time does seam strange and makes one wonder
USA319pilot should be proud of my theory

There was a time when airlines were happy to send passengers back and forth between each other... but not any more.
.
DL's purpose with the slot deal at LGA - not unlike US' at DCA - is to have the most rounded schedule of any airline in the market.
The difference is that LGA is a much larger market than DCA with higher value passengers and DL is a larger airline so it is easier for them to absorb the startup losses that are necessary to push into other carriers' key markets.
Thus, DL has added service from LGA to virtually every other hub market within the LGA perimeter; US has added several markets including some DL hubs.
As US pulls down its New York presence even further, the chances are good that DL will be able to shift some of the Shuttle business from US to DL - and with the time difference between the two Shuttles being eliminated, then size becomes the primary factor.

It's interesting how this LCC Management Team is no different than the ones in the past, facilitating the growth of other airlines at the expense of it's own. Now DAL is the big winner to add to the list of others, JetBlue, Southwest, Republic, etc........

it comes down to the same issue - US does not have the size to compete against other airlines which are either larger or have much better financials - and yet US wants to move into the ranks of the "big airlines" with financials that are not superior to other carriers.
.
US has to think long-term based on its making its own business plan work and stop making decisions that short-circuit its long-term prospects at the expense of short-term opportunities.
.
Although there are people who believe US could have done a better job with its LGA presence, they have had years to try to evaluate what they could do and I don't think it is realistic to think they could have done any better than what they ended up doing.
.
If something actually works out with AA, they get another shot... but don't forget that AA-US would still be #3 in NYC among the network carriers and face stiff competition from B6 as well.

What business plan? LCC has a plan?
They don't even knowl what they want to be when they grow up.....a low-cost carrier (LCC)? A 'major' airline? A 'large regional with some international'?
No, the furthest the braintrust thinks is this quarter's results.
That, and potential big payouts for a merger with someone.
Plan? What plan?

Of course they have a business plan.

Offer mediocre service in order to keep high yield passengers on other airlines.

Make the employees subsidize the loss of revenue and any fuel price increases.

Keep the cash cow going as long as possible to collect big bonuses until the last day.

I thought it was obvious.

This doesn't require airlines' cooperation. Most corporate accounts with DL and US book into an unrestricted class (usually Y) for Shuttle flights. You can easily refund tickets you don't use and hop on the other airline's flights by simply walking up. The Shuttle ticket agents can book corporate rates for Shuttle flights (at least as of the last time I flew the Shuttle).
