DOT Approves AS/AA LAX-MEX Route Swap

Refusing to accept facts and still in denial.

PMUS is now operating, will operate, or has operated over a dozen PMAA routes, including IAH, OKC, PHX, DEN, IAD, BNA, TPA, etc., etc. You can't separate them, as desperate as you are to try.

If it weren't for the merger, much of PMUS's capacity at LAX today would still be with AA and AA would still be the largest U.S. carrier at LAX.

and yet AA and US' total market share hasn't changed. Feel free to look at the data. US has taken over some routes but AA has clearly done the same as well.

AA and US' combined share at LAX is basically unchanged. US has picked up about 3/4 percent of share while AA lost that amount - but you really don't want to know the truth about who has added 2 points of share and the most amount of local revenue in just the past year. 2 points of share in a market as competitive as LAX is enormous esp. when you go from 16 to 18 percent.

and it still doesn't change that DL and UA have narrowed the gap in LOCAL market share - not filling LAX full of capacity to support connecting traffic and DL and UA are generating as much or more revenue than AA did without the merger.

It is ONLY because of the merger that AA is holding onto its position in LAX.

DL and UA are simply not willing to walk away from their relative positions at LAX just because AA suddenly decided it needs to have a west coast hub long after DL and UA set out their west coast strategies.

I've told you for years that AA would simply not be able to walk into competitive markets and grow as the last airline to merge.

and while you want to celebrate a couple hundred new seats to day being added from LAX to Mexico, it comes nowhere close either in number or after the competitive additions to move AA into the #1 int'l position including to Asia, Latin America, or Mexico

so a 2% increase in market share for DL while you have harped endlessly about DL not having enough gates is delusion but an essentially flat share for AA and US is not even while AA has been gaining gates left and right?

I wouldn't put too much faith into DOT data.
As a certain dreamer of DL grandeur has pointed out previously, it is apparently standard practice at DL to lie to the DOT.

Airlines say what they need to say to the DOT. What happens in real life is considerable different.

Spin away!

It is ONLY because of the DL merger with NW that DL is holding onto its position in several markets, namely its presence in SEA, MSP, DTW and Asia in general.
