I totally agree with all of the bugs listed. Especially the different login. Last week I spoke to an arrogant knucklehead in the password department who condescended to me even though HIS system is screwed up. Go figure.

I can't understand why everyone isn't using the new (at least for the East employees) employee numbers nearly 5 years after the merger. The Hub is gone, the ETC uses the new numbers - what in the world are they waiting on?

I have a MAC..

IMHO,, I have no gripes-if u can believe that~

True you do need 2 dif passwords when signing in...
I stop trying to figure it out and just do it..
when you are prompted with the ETC experiencing blah blah, log off and try later.

Why can't we check in 24 hrs prior instead of 12 ? And why can't we see the names of employees listed on flights just the seniority date?? Also ,why cant we change or travel dependants ourselves via the etc like other airlines instead of sending in a form or an act of God??

To play devil's advocate here -

The ETC works fine on my mac (usually). My Dell with IE is no better.

The process of logging in twice is stupid.

The buddy pass pricing is stupid (though this is supposed to be fixed in the new ETC).

Why does it matter when you check in? As an employee, your check in time only matters if there is someone with the exact same DOH as you on the flight (almost impossible).

It is none of your business to know the names of people who are listing for the flight. I could also see issues that very senior employees might get hassled if they bumped people and everybody knew who it was.

You can't change dependents willy-nilly because the IRS requires that the dependent be "eligible" to provide the flights tax free (spouse, child, etc.). If US Airways didn't check the relationship (birth certificate), the benefit wouldn't qualify for tax-free status.
 
One of my main issues with the ETC system is that you are unable to alter your return flights once you have traveled the first segment of your trip. This is a huge pain given that the loads can change a lot from one day to the next. I have been told that this was going to be corrected at some point, but who knows when that might be.
 
In terms of how US manages non rev travel, I would like a return to transparency. Pre-merger it was a pretty honest system, seniority ruled, end of story. Post merger we have all kinds of shenanigans going on. F/As that commute through/ from PHX tell horror stories about how the agents go around them, put junior people on and not them, don't give them jumpseat, tell them they can't have jumpseat due to weight restriction etc. East pilots commuting on West metal are apparently being thrown off West metal for being EAST. Why is that allowed?

Every time I even contemplate taking a vacation that uses West metal I pause. Why is this the case five years later?

The other legacies put standby passenger lists on a monitor with their ranking so everyone can see it and know it's honest. We need that and the company needs to crack down on anyone messing with the system. Geez people, this is one of the only positives of working at US, why is it so dirty?

Then don't get me started about how they took our family seniority away and put it under a new hire''s.

Hey g princess I've heard the same stories about, not just east pilots being denied boarding because they were from the east, but flight attendants too. There is a famous story about the west pilot who tried it with the WRONG east flight attendant and who subsequently found himself out on the street. It's never happened to me--I don't commute--but if I were commuting to work and was denied for something as silly as being from the east or west I would call in unable to commute, and upon investigating the situation make sure the UTC was later removed and let the offending pilot deal with the ramifications of costing the company money by preventing me from getting to work.

That's probably my biggest issue with the ETC as well. It would just be nice to have more flexibility with the system in that regard...I hate having to go over to the Customer Service desk or make a phone call to do something seemingly basic. Sometimes it's just easier to make multiple listings. There are a few other minor things I'd like to see:

- Include connecting city in search
- More than three results per page
- Ability to ticket ED20s
- Prompt when searching international flights or guest passes and show the $ total when selecting a flight, not on the very last page when making a listing
 
I agree every electronic system available for use at ole US has flaws and there are plenty of items that could be improved. However, if one were to learn to use the system they wouldn't have nearly as many issues. Each employee has 2 logins for 2 different systems, not too uncommon anywhere. However, one is NOT required to login to wings to access the ETC. One can access wings then click on ETC and only login using the number that has always been used for employee travel regardless of where one was employeed bfore, during and after the merger.
 
Why cant the etc keep your e-mail address and phone number info along with your name.This has to be entered everytime you log in. Also,when wanting to change the outbound date only,the return date changes to match the outbound date.
