First oil, now light bulbs! Hugo Chavez!

Free light bulbs to U.S. poor.

No wonder the capitalist hate Chavez so much. HOW DARE HE!
Doesn't he know the poor are there to be exploited by the free market!

After 11/4/08,......."Hugo" won't be such a Dirty Word on Capital Hill.

For better or Worse, I honestly Do NOT think 'Hugo" hates America.

Just EL-CHIMPO and (Dirty) DICK

YOu should move down there too...I hear gas is just 50 cents a gallon.

I also hear that 45% of the population lives on less than $2 dollars a day. Lovely! Not bad for a country of such vast wealth. Hugo can provide free light bulbs to Americans but can’t provide a living for his own people. Yet proclaimed a hero by some in America. Sad!

Hugo Chavez was ELECTED (unlike Bush) in 1999. The U.S. backed coup failed to oust him in 2002. Before that Venezuela was ruled by your typical U.S. corporate friendly oligarchys who are the cause of Venezuelas ails.
Its a shame and an embarrasment that a third world country has to help OUR OWN POOR WITH CHEAP FUEL AND LIGHTBULBS BECAUSE OUR OWN GOVERNMENT ONLY CARES ABOUT THE RICH!

I too think Chavez has personal animosity towrads the Shrub. But its beyond Bush.
Many people call him a socialist because they don't know better. Hugo Chavez is a Bolivarian, ie Simon Bolivar. Simon Bolivar was one of the "Libertadores de America." His dream was a union of liberated south american countires, like the U.S. This dream was briefly achieved from 1819-1831 when Venezuela, Colombia, Panama(was part of Colombia at the time) and Ecuador formed what was known as the Gran Colombia. To many this is a dream deferred. Until Hugo Chavez came along no one actually thought this had any chance of being achieved. Unlike the proposed North American Union (between Canada, U.S and Mexico) a union of south america makes sense. The region shares a common language (except for Brasil), a common religion (catholicism-one of the main oppressors) and common ancestries.
The region has always been under some kind of colonial control. After Spain, came U.S. imperialism, and "free market" piracy. THESE (and sell out local elites) are the roots of much resentment and the cause of many of the socio-economic ails of the region.

While I agree with you that he is quite a different breed -- and debatably with good intentions --, he doesn't really do much to get away from the socialist title:

"Socialism builds and capitalism destroys.â€￾ -- Chavez

I don't really trust government to solve all of societies ills but I certainly do not trust a few capitalist to make policy that will not be strictly in thier self interest. I really dont trust any of them. Who shall we trust? And I know some will say you can only trust yourself but I am talking about leading this country. I can take care of my self with all things even. But I am tired of people thinking that all things are even. There is an investigation going on right now about some who are fruadulently hiding thier income off shore (CNBC). It is not enough for those who make millions off of defrauding us daily with just barely legal business deals, but they also don't pay taxes, therefore getting a free ride thanks to us that do pay our taxes.

While Chavez is giving away $00.59 light bulbs to expand his communistic propoganda, the U.S. is helping not only their own country but, "HUNDREDS" of other country's !

Just one example :

Bunch of bull. U.S. aid ALWAYS has strings attached. You guys think you're this magnanomous entitity saving those third world denizens from themselves. In reality your foreign/corporate policy is the root of many third world ails, particularly in Latin America. You're believing too much of your own Hollywood hype; where the U.S always saves the world.
Bush's Aids 'gift' has been seized he by industry giants
The truth behind this AIDS gift was that Argentina and Brazil were sending generic AIDS drugs to Afica for $2.00/doze. Big no-no. That cuts into big Pharma's bottom line so they cried to Bush. Bush was more than willing to help.
The AIDS virus: Made in the USA?
