Hector Shakes Up Inflight

There are no improvements"yet". Only promotions and new middle management "fill". Promotions mean people are getting pay raises. Pay raises mean increased budget. We can increase the budget to promote people but not give the currently "unemployed" their jobs back? Those folks on invol can't apply for the new jobs because they have already been filled.

ps. Was there a posting about these new positions so everyone would have a fair shot at them?

So far, the only "change" I've seen is we have potato chips instead of Sun Chips!

Humm, I thought I said proposed positive changes, as in haven't happened yet, but I could be wrong. =) It is all just talk at this point, but I remain hopeful.

"Adler plans to replace the current work of 220 deployed flight attendant positions by creating 27 permanent, full-time positions within the department. The new positions will be open for application by any employee. " Lowering the FA to Supervisor ration will also create jobs. http://www.unionvoice.org/amer_west/notice...ter_id=27646175

I wonder how many of the 220 deployed flight attendants are based in CLT? You see I once again slipped back to a secondary line with the capacity reductions for Oct. They are not offering monthly leave for Nov. and the flight attendants that took the VPLOA will be back Dec. 1, looks like I could slip back to reserve again this winter. I can only imagine what the folks in PHL are thinking, with all their seasonal reduction, no leaves for Nov., the deployed flight attendants coming back to fly and the VPLOA's coming back Dec. 1. It's not going to be joyous holiday season.

I'm happy for you that you are excited to see these changes, I not so much. I am really not seeing how these changes are going to enhance the inflight department. I guess we will just have to wait and see.

A lot of those 200 are product specialists "as they call themselves" and inflight "coaches", whatever the hell THAT is. In the big scheme of things I think we have a VP of inflight that is quite aware who he has working in "his department" if you will. He's simply restructuring, trimming the fat and weeding out the inadequate, untrained and unprofessional employees in inflight. Many SHOULD be back on the line, coaches, specialists and inflight supervisors alike. No more "hiding out". Start doing that HHD inventory and get slingin' them drinks.

I like the product specialists here in PHL. They try to help given the limited tools and info they are given. In- flight on the other hand has turned into a mess ...minus the dress. In Philadelphia there is no open door policy. They went to the ticket counter and took a restraining strap back with them. Put it right in reception of the office and it's clear you CAN NOT and ARE NOT allowed to approach in-flight. It's the most blatant display I have seen yet to show how they feel about us.

Uh huhhh talk about an "open door policy". What open door? Just try getting through those steel doors to inflight in the crew room. If there isn't anyone at the nurse's station your SOL. I'll also have to agree that there are some really great specialists. I don't include everyone in my "rants".

Unbelievable.

I like the product specialists in CLT too. In fact...I like the ones in PHX also. They are really trying to hone the product from the caterers and the commissaries. Although sometimes their timing wasn't good. They'd show up and I'd be running late and be up to my eyeballs with just trying to get the equipment checked.

What's with the restraining strap?? I've never heard of anything so weird or absurd. Just take it down and throw it away. And dare anyone to say a bloody word to you about it.
<_<

The changes sound positive and I hope that the company follows through with their plan and that this isn't just another instance of the company blowing up a smoke screen improvement plan.

I need a little less talk and a lot more action, LOL.

Hector is not a "yes" man. He has been observing what is going on like Wolf did when he first came to the company. There WILL be SWEEPING changes. If the company renigs, Hector will bolt. Mark my words on that one.

Some of you didn't understand my prior warning. I am sorry but I just deleted 5 posts which went back to the union/non union argument, including one which complained about moderation-that poster has a 14 day time out.

Since this is a valid topic for discussion, and most of you understood my warning I will leave it open, but I want to be clear that the next post regarding a discussion of union vs. non union will get the poster an extended suspension.

Thank you.

  Yes he will and he does GET things done - he did it at NWA and US is damn lucky to have his level of expertise and class. Class is DEFINITELY something US does NOT have. Give the man time and he WILL make things happen. He will BOLT if TEMPE acts like a tacky, low trash carrier - he doesnt want to be associated with that. Thats one of the major reasons MANY retired and took early out's a couple of years ago - they had ENOUGH. So...there is HOPE for US, now just some rearranging at the top and change the overall image. FINGERS CROSSED

Ladies and Gentlemen,

While we DO appreciate posts of support more than you can ever imagine, we have handled the issue of the miscreant poster, therefore had to remove all references to that post and that individual.

Please let us get back from the distractions at hand onto the thread topic at hand...

Again, many thanks to those who voiced their support....

Richard

While I am inclined to regard every change which US makes with a certain degree of suspicion, I happen to agree with Piney's post above. I think that Hector has an agenda......and it's for the good of employees and customers alike. I will regard him as innocent unless proven guilty, and will welcome any positive changes which he is able to enact.

Not every member of "management" is the enemy.

I have to tend to agree on this one......time will tell. But this whole subject is oing to play itself out soon enough. We spent 50 mil on access to LHR. Seems like it's time for "OUR" investment to PAY OFF.

Fingers crossed as well.
