Huge pay raise for Delta/NW pilots..ONLY

Go union and you'll see plenty of time clocks at DL !

Time clocks are already going in (or already are in) in some cities, and were planned long before the merger.

Despite what Anderson, et al may tell you, the IAM/AFA, etc. have nothing to do with that. Are you really so gullible as to think they do?

If you actually believe unions are responsible, you are too far gone to be helped; DL management has successfully played you for a chump.

2nd.........I'm getting pay raise/restoration as of JAN. 1st of '09..........without the aid of a union !
Do you really believe that Delta would give you a raise if there were not unions who negotiated the salaries that F/A's enjoy across the industry?

I know I am wasting my time, but have you ever studied where the 40-hour workweek, minimum wage, and other basic labor laws came from???

Just because a union may have had a hand in developing policies over the years means that there is still a need for them.

Lets talk about the realities of today. Look at the American Auto Industry who after years of union rape-and-pillage are dying as we speak. Sure those worker are very well paid, but look at the consequences. Sub par-overpriced product that cant compete on the global level.

He fails to mention...there IS NOTHING in any of the contracts preventing them offering a pay raise.

This is the beginning of the "keep them helpless and non union" fight.

Now, I can almost guarantee that the pay raise will NOT be anywhere near the pay increase of the NW pilots.

Nor did the contract of the NW pilots "PREVENT" ANDERSON, Inc. from giving them some of their BK money back in a "raise".

(help us out here Dopes..are you on duty yet?)

What about your "binding contract" and "guarantees"? You can't have your cake and eat it to. I guess it smacks in the face your mantra "See what a union can do for you!" In this case it is limiting (go figure). You do know what "Law of Unintended Consequences" is don't you?

Hey look! We agree on something!

....Freudian slip on your part?

NxNW is correct; there's nothing stopping the company from approaching the unions on the property about including them in all this.

The difference with a CBA is that I know how much and when I will receive step increases. More importantly, they can't be revoked on a whim.

I wonder why RA failed to mention that we're all getting raises on January 1st along with you?

Also, I'm still waiting to see what the percentage increase is for DL'ers. Maybe you can let us know what it is?

Yes that was a slip, should have read "Just because a union may have had a hand in developing policies over the years doesnt mean that there is still a need for them."

I can only see whats posted on the Inflight section when I log in. I have no idea whats mentioned on the others, but since it was mention to all non pilot groups I would think it would be the case. Will let you know what I find out as well.

the perception of buying an import will last for decades while an american car will fall apart in 5 years really is not reality today. while I agree during the 1980's through 1990's the quality was not the highest.. today it is a much different story. today american cars and trucks are on nearly equal levels as most imports and generally most american cars have a better warranty as well!

Dapoes, you are focusing too much emphasis on the past with that statement and not looking at present towards future.
the problem is not "workers" it is an economy that has fallen apart(a large part of why that happened was greed on wall street), there is a much bigger picture here.. if you choose to look. its generally a good idea to have it in writing especially during these downturns..

Why is it always the workers fault instead of management?
If management were run correctly, they are supposed to foresee economic ups and downs in the market, and at the same time bring new technology and innovation as well. That's why they get paid the "big bucks". When they are incompetent and "behind the curve" so to speak, who suffers? Of course the line workers who build the product that "management" develops. Everyone else gets screwed, will they remain unscathed. But I'm not going to go there about the auto workers. The automakers are now looking for a handout, and IF they get one, I know that our airline honchos will follow suit.

Hypothetically speaking. If that day happens when or if they get some sort of gov't aid, what will they do?
I just hope that some sort of justice will happen where we would get back SOME or ALL of what we lost. That's REAL justice. Are we supposed to settle for less than that? From the Customer Service Agents, who work the gates and deal with the frustrated and irate passengers; to the Mechanics who fix the equipment and sign off on the planes; to the Ramp Agents who do the grunt work; to the Cargo Agents who handle the cargo; to the Clerical Staff who run the airlines; to the Travel and Reservation Specialists who book the flights; to the Flight Attendants who are the face of the airline who actually deal with the paying customer first hand; and of course the pilots, we all have a role to play in success of our airlines. Now management has to step up their game and do what is right.

I think this is what were asking for. I think the former NW members who are joining the "New Delta" have experience with the new president of the airline and are very critical. They feel representation is necessary and critical. While the Delta people who haven't had representation, and have dealt with their leaders directly feel they are treated fairly. Personally, at my airline, I am treated fairly, but since we are the only workgroup not unionized, we took the biggest hit, and will be the last group to get anything back because we don't have a contract. We got a total of 4% back, but still lost ground in work rules and other benefits that are monetary and non-monetary. A contract would have helped a lot, since everybody else got some sort of "snap backs". But the good thing is that we are at (or above) "industry standard" in several areas. I know that the economy is tough right now, but I'm confident it will bounce back.

We'll see what happens, and I hope that the "Worlds Biggest Airline" will set the standard for us all to follow with service, and including pay, of course.

With all due respect, what has happen in the past is the main reason why were are in the situation this very minute.

The direct greed on wall street (Bear, Lehman, AIG, etc.) has the effect on us only in terms of money we have lost via 401k and money we want, via future lending. Either way the idea of how a CBA can some how save you from those circumstances is a stretch.

You can guarantee one thing tho, if Obama passes his EFCA they way the unions want, the unemployment numbers will much more staggering then what we saw this past week. Plain and simple.

What????!!!!
Plain and simple?
Please explain. This makes entirely no sense at all.

Stop being a management shill. They have a contract so what's wrong with us having one. Do you think it's ok for 4000 mechanics to be driven to the street but several years later watch Steenland get $22 million????
Instead of DL spending millions to keep us from organizing, why haven't they just spent the money on ensuring that we ARE paid industry standard, thus giving us an incentive not to want to organize?

You can also guarantee that if the Delta ramp agents don't vote a union in with the NW agents, you are going to see the NW stations decimated. Hold up! Do I hear Anderson licking his chops at the outstations he's going to contract out?

P.S. Save the bold print for future reference.

via future lending.
when banks do not lend or limit how much.. people cannot secure loans for new cars, that is not the workers fault.
Either way the idea of how a CBA can some how save you from those circumstances is a stretch.
I agree, it cannot but it can determine how it will be handled and any/all changes must be given by consent.

honestly, this does not make any sense.
