Below you will find an explanation of our member ranking system. As your rank increases, your forum privileges will increase such as the number of PM's you may store, ability to post personal/public events in the calendar, ability to upload pictures, etc.

0 - 15 Posts: Newbie

101 - 500 Posts: Advanced Member

Kyle, on the user board what's the difference between a guest and an anonymous user?

:(

Some have asked if there was a difference between member rankings other then the number of posts. Yes, there are some more options for higher rankings. Here is a brief overview of some of the more common differences...

Newbie's are restricted in pretty much all of their options. They may not email members or upload pictures, avatars. Once they post the required number of messages, then these options become open for them. The higher rankings allow for more personal messages, edit times, larger images to be posted and a few other small features.

If our object is to promote discussion and encourage an interchange of ideas and experiences why limit the newbies options?
Are not we treating them like people sometimes act towards low timers? In this case they certainly have nothing to prove to us aside from an ability to communicate thought.
Coud not this lead to people feeling left out or not welcome therefore not logging on to the site or conversely making posts just to get upgraded when they really have nothing to say. ( I will probably get a rocket for that one!)
Not bitching just curious.
Cheers to all.
Fire at will.

With this post I move from being a Newbie/lurker, to member with all its privileges and responsibilities....

sharkbait - I somewhat agree with you, however there are other reasons to limit new comers.

As I have experienced in the past - not so much with this site, but others - that some people register under a different name and use that account to reak havoc.

The one main idea behind blocking full privileges for newbie's is the uploading of pictures/avatars. As we just experienced last night on USaviation.com, a person decided to use a very graphical avatar and also chose to post pornographic images throughout the forums. We just can not allow this to happen. I look at it in the way it not only protects us but also protects your conversations.

Everything else is basically the same, once people become members, there is really very little difference between the levels. (i.e. members can upload an image up to 150k, senior members can upload up to 200k.)

Good enough for me - off to USaviation to check the porn.
Just joking.
Anyhoo if you want obscene and revolting, according to my fellow members, just check www.Payscales in the Heli industry.screw.
But that's another subject is it not?

Thanks for the reply.
Cheers

Kyle:

Have the rankings changed? it would appear that the senior rating has dropped from 500 to 250.

Also is there any prospect of a spellcheck in the near future for the word challenged?
