Merging airline work groups a challenge

In the past year, bankrupt US Airways has secured labor concessions, creditor cooperation and a complex merger deal with America West Airlines.
Later comes an even taller hurdle: integrating work groups.

"Consummating the merger is really the beginning," said Marick Masters, a University of Pittsburgh business and labor professor. "Integration is going to be the critical question."

you get even the slightest inkling of a runoff at U and IAM is toast in the blink of an eye.
"I got a positive response from (mechanics) and an icy response from the IAM," said Marshall of his visit to Pittsburgh International Airport.
the only thing here is if the IAM was ousted by angry mechanics...i hope they have the common sense to realize they lose the contract(IAM) they lose inhouse as well.
anymore though these people would bite off their nose to spite their faces. B)
