More Hawaiian Competition Shuts Down

Staples said the union’s top priority is making sure that all 585 ATA pilots and flight engineers find new jobs, especially since part of ATA’s fleet has been transferred to World Airways and more airplanes could go to World and North American later."
Sounds like an ALPA operation based on a General Foods model where brands are conceived, moved or shuttered depending on a toss of chicken bones and the holding company, a hedge fund (now there's a red, BS flag) gets to pick and choose who they bring to the other brands, World and NA. (I wonder if the hedge fund's managers get taxed at 15% rate when they play with airplanes, too?)

and, where was that pesky scope clause?

Just checked a handful of fares on usairways.com from phx to lih and hnl this summr. Expect to pay $1200 to $1400 for a coach seat.

That doesn't seem a whole lot higher if at all from what it's been the last few years.
Looking back at my expense reports, I paid $407 round trip in October 2007 for PHX-HNL-PHX on HA. Two months ago I paid $690 for PHX-HNL-PHX on HA. Seems like things have gone up quite a bit. At least HA is still around for PHX-HNL. I'd rather not fly to LAX to avoid US.
