No 787 for Us

but in the mean time US will continue to use the 767 and the 330. The 76 is severly limited. Why cant US get some cheap used 76s from teh desert or someone to use as either spares or to may be add another city?

from the article:
"If they don’t and we don’t have an order any more, that’s fine. The merger’s done and [Airbus has] been paid back, so everyone’s happy."

This is the key quote. He's basically saying that their options are wide open. I thought a certain poster on this board said that US had bid on some 763's recently but was beaten. Can we surmise that management is continuing to seek more widebodies on the "certified preowned" market?

American has a 767 available right now. Its slightly crispy but hey it has wings. :p

I saw something a few months ago that said the glut of used wide-bodies that resulted from 911 has all but dried up, between conversions to freighters and the recovery in the industry world-wide. There are some available occasionally as airlines update their fleets, but the days of both good and cheap used airplanes are pretty much over.

Would it be wise for LCC to procure A330-200s from Airbus as an interim to replace/augment 67s; deal with the A350/70 delay; and treat those new aircraft as A330 replacements?
