Let me ask you this....Trump gave corporations a huge tax cut. The theory was that they would grow or raise pay...or maybe put some into a "rainy day fund". But they spent the bulk of their tax savings buying back stock. And things look more dire for the airline industry. We gave them a boatload of money in 2018 via tax cuts. How much of our tax money should the government give to the airlines to see them thru this? I'm asking you because you are a righty that actually thinks. And I've read prior to coronavirus that Socialism is bad. Is socialism bad enough that the government should stay out of propping up the airline industry?

I don't see this as a socialist venture unless the airline industry was permanently nationalized. These actions are no different from the bailouts in 2001, besides there is a long history of gov't bailing out industries for many decades. I didn't think the ARRA monies Obama doled out, in some instances, were used properly.....they gave 21 billion to education that ended up shoring up under funded pensions at our expense. Point here is unless you stipulate how and why any assistance is spent, you deal with the result. The 2018 tax cuts were given, and, without looking into it, I bet the airline industry wasn't the only ones that got it. I see they bought back a lot of common stock, I'd bet to keep out of takeovers.
As to the 2001 bailouts......I think in some cases it was wrong and prolonged the inevitable for some airlines....I think many should have gone away, including USAir. Then there's the auto industry.....same goes there too...where are they today? Hurting as before.
I don't think socialism is a good idea although we need social programs.....they are different.
