US Airways CEO agrees to meet Emanuel

Your remarks about PIT, are not correct. As I have stated several times, the pulldown of PIT began prior to HP and/or Parker coming into the picture. From what I can recall, the reductions in PIT started just prior to 9/11 with a fair amount of Mainline flying being shifted over to RJ's. As well all know, 9/11 brought more cuts to PIT in an expedited manor. Parker may have put the finishing touches on something that was already in the works, but in no way did he do anything as a political power play. It was the former US management team that got into a squabble with the local politicians during the BK process.

Your right the slot swap was a gift but keep in mind Terminal C at LGA was in need of major renovations as you can see Delta is investing close to $300 million for the upgrades and facelift.

DL invested $160 million, not $300 million, to upgrade terminals C and D, including the connector bridge:

3 years ago before the slot swap Parker told US that LGA was losing money and costing the company $75million a year in expenses to operate. So If you look at it Parker's way he's saving $75 million a year, he got prime DCA slots that make US money and we still havev$300 million in the bank because he refused to upgrade the Teminal.

LGA slots do cost money if your only plan for them are Dash8 and CRJ flights.

The man is a genious. Parker is the reason he turned America West and US profitable and AA will be profitable soon.

AA was profitable in 2012 if we exclude one-time items and bankruptcy expenses. It didn't take a genius to make US profitable given the regional airline payrates of its pilots and FAs since the 2005 merger. US has had the lowest labor costs of any legacy airline for eight years now. Parker a genius? Are you his wife or kid? He's no genius - a genius would have hired a driver in 2007 and avoided his third lifetime DUI conviction.

By the way It was Parker that pulled the US HUB in PIT down due to the mayor trying to milk him. Don't be surprised if he cuts ORD back. The man does not like to be milked. He's not a Cow.

As wings pointed out, you got the timeline wrong. The PIT hub was dismantled prior to the merger although Parker has continued to draw down the PIT flights. PIT was a tiny fraction of its former hub when Parker took over in 2005.

If you're equating PIT and CHI, you need to travel more. CHI metro area population is several multiples of the population of the PIT metro area and has long supported large hubs of AA, UA and WN (at MDW). Despite sharing CHI with UA and WN, the AA hub at ORD is bigger than the US hub at PHL.

Parker is the one that made the deal with the mayor to build the maintenance control center in PIT...but they couldnt agree on a deal rebuilding PIT as a HUB...remember that..thats when Parker almost completely pulled it down..We still have our maintenace base there

Are you referencing the OCC dispatch facility? If so that has nothing to do with the airport activities in PIT. Sadly that new OCC center along with MTC will most likely go away due to the merger.

Earlier in that transcript, Parker opines that US does not believe that Justice Dept will require any DCA divestitures - and that's the uninformed ignorant nonsense that I've come to expect from him. When DL and US did their swap, the government was clear that 50% of the slots at LGA or DCA was the upper limit, and US has just about half of the DCA slots now.
He's playing poker. What should he have said? Yeah, the Justice department is really going to nail us in DC? He knows something might have to go.

Not difficult to tear a CBA to smithereens through bankruptcy or otherwise, the IAM hasn't exactly stood their ground on scope they could easily move or outsource the work.

To be honest I don't care much about ORD ....... but we must protect our DCA slots at all costs ......

so you would shut all the other places down just to keep the dca slots what a pathetic maroon idea
just the same way you would toss of your coworkers down the river without the life preservers n anchor while the hole in the bottom of the boat is increasingly larger. got a better idea how bout you never step foot in planning bec if you do the whole airline is doomed

DCA is recession proof , the government literally PRINTS money , the rest of the US economy could shut down but that town would keep on going ,it is "Vital" that we controll DCA .

No airport is recession proof.

Stick to loading bags instead of route planning and finance.

In 2011 LGA saw 24.1 million passengers.

In 2011 DCA carried almost 19 million passengers.

Since LGA carries more passengers, I guess Doug screwed up by giving up LGA instead of making it work.
