American Airlines (AMR) announced that it appointed Bob Reding, Senior Vice President of Technical Operations, as Executive Vice President of Operations. Reding previously served as Chief Operations Officer for American Eagle and as the Chief Executive Officer of Canadian Regional Airlines and Reno Air.

The company announced retirement of Ralph Richardi, Senior Vice President-Customer Service.

Tom Del Valle, Vice President of Domestic Customer Service, was appointed Senior Vice President of Airport Services. Effective upon Richardi's retirement in December, Del Valle will oversee all of American's domestic Airport Operations, Customer Service Planning and the Cargo Division.

In December, Tim Ahern, Vice President-DFW, will succeed Del Valle as Vice President of Airport Services.

Carmine Romano, Vice President - Base Maintenance, was appointed Senior Vice President - Maintenance & Engineering. Romano, who has had responsibility for the Tulsa maintenance operations since 2000, will oversee all of American Airlines maintenance operations worldwide. He will also oversee maintenance and engineering activities that take place at stations throughout the American Airlines system.
