As we are less than a month away from the Presidential Election, who are you planning on voting for and why? The unions at LCC have spent lots of our dues monies telling us to vote Democratic, but how do you really feel? Do you like being told by your union how you should vote? Were you planning on voting that way? Do you think your union dues should be spent telling you these things? I'm just curious?

Thoughts?

Legally, they cannot tell you who to vote for. Walmart is in trouble for trying to tell their employees to vote John Mccain. You as an individual vote for who you want. Im personelly voting for Obama because I like several of his issues such as lower taxes for those of us making 250,000 or less. I personally vote democrat no matter what but i sure as heck wouldnt want my union or my employer telling me who to vote for regardless.

Obama due to the fact that the courts have swung to far to the right. Cannot afford to have another Scalia, or Roberts appointed tot he USSC

I do not vote according to Party line. There are many positions that I disagree with the Democratic Party on, SAME for the Republican Party. I would never allow an organization like a Union to dictate to me who to vote for. They may "recommend" a candidate based on what they perceive as being best for the improvement of life for it's members.

However, as an American citizen under this Republic (for now at least) you are Free to vote for whomever you wish.

There were many things about McCain that I liked decades ago. Not now...nor am I fond of Bill Clinton as I once was. John McCain's well known angry behavior problem is dangerous in a world leader. His penchant for lying. His over exaggeration regarding his military history (I am former Navy Nuclear Submarines...THE most elite force in the Navy, I don't wear it like I am superior to the rest of the men and women in America as he does). His age, his questionable decision making lack of skills, such as Palin and their recent race pandering politicking. I believe John McCain is a danger to the stability and continuity of the United States as President.

I will vote for Mr. Obama, he has presented a message and persona of leadership that our nation is desperately in need of. His intellect and pulse on the Street of America (across may divides) sets him a part from most politicans. He is by no means with out his faults, but when was the last time we had one of those. Moreover, should he not be able to serve out his term, I am very comfortable with the continuation of Senator Biden as President...just as I was Lyndon Johnson (who was one of the greatest in history in my opinion)

Mr. Obama

McCain/Palin. I value democracy and capitalism. A vote for Obama is a vote for Socialism. Obama is dishonest and inexperienced. The uninformed vote the Obama ticket and since the uninformed are more numerous than the educated in our country it looks like he will win. Sad, no, terrifying.

So the uninformed vote for the most educated candidates, and the informed vote for the least educated candidates? Hmmm...

That's odd..as Mr. and Mrs. Obama will be amongst the most educated Presidents and First Ladies in American history. Your value of democracy and capitalism is in direct competition with deregulation pushed by McCain which has grown poverty (decimating the middle class) and extreme wealth for a few at the top. This appears to be the mantra of the Old George Bush voters. (looking for more of the McSame) and the second house of cards which will most likely finish off the United States.

I suppose Republican President Lincoln was "inexperienced" too.

I agree with 4merresrat and will vote for McCain/Palin. First of all, Obama is inexperienced and I have yet to see what he has accomplished. Whenever anyone asks him a question he cannot simply answer the question. He just beats around the bush. Second of all, he is racist! Third of all, I don't think he is patriotic enough. Fourth, he is going to raise taxes for many including capital gains taxes. I have various investments and I don't think that I should have to pay tons and tons of capital gains taxes on them. Also, $250,000 really is not that much money and families who make that should not be punished for working hard. That's what my family makes and I don't think we should have to pay extra. Fifth, I don't believe in Socialism. The great thing about living in the US is that we are a democracy. Sixth, anyone who thinks allowing the government to take care of our healthcare needs to really examine how inept our government is. Do you seriously think they are going to take care of you? Do you seriously think universal/government run healthcare is going to be a better situation for us all. I don't! The last thing I want is the government to be involved. Do you think it is hard getting into the doctor's office now? Sometimes I have to make appointments 2-3 months in advance. wait until it is socialized health care. It will be next to impossible. I have family from England who absolutely hates universal healthcare and they tell me it doesn't work. Seventh, while I don't like war and I don't think we should have started the war in Iraq, we cannot surrender at this point. That would be the worst thing to do and that's what Obama wants. He wants to pull troops out. I know, he said he wants to set a timeline to pull the troops out. I'm sure someone will tell me that he is setting a timeline to "win" the war. He has no interest in winning the war. He just wants to pull troops out. Eighth, he doesn't speak very eloquently and says "uh" too much. I think Hillary Clinton should be running not Obama and even though I don't agree with everything that McCain says, at least I know he has experience and he won't raise my taxes. Obama is naive, idealistic, lacks experience, and just isn't ready to be a leader of our nation. Oh, and I think it is wrong that the union has sent my hard-earned dues to the Obama campaign. They shouldn't be sending our dues to politicans. Feel free to disagree, tell me a million reasons as to why voting for McCain/Palin is a mistake, or whatever but I really don't care what you think.

Mr. Obama

LBJ is hardly one of the greatest presidents in history. Gulf of Tonkin ring a bell? 58000 men came home in body bags all becasue of his ego and not wanting to back down from a fight. My favorite LBJ quote "Those boys can't bomb and outhouse without my say so". Oh yeah, great commander in chief material.

So the uninformed vote for the most educated candidates, and the informed vote for the least educated candidates? Hmmm...

Yes, the uninformed are voting for a man with one year experience in the Senate. And this man has some very questionable choices and affiliations in his past. And when questioned about them, um, excuse me, but this very educated man plays dumb.

He went to church at the same place for 20 years and when Rev. Wright's racist and ignorant remarks come up he feigns ignorance. He has affiliations with a man who is an admitted terrorists and is unrepentent. He accepted 90 million in campaign contributions from Fanny Mae. . . A man who says he will sit down with terrorists. The list goes on. Anyone who wants this man for president is uninformed.

I think I'm going to keep who I'm going to vote for to myself. It seems that when you let everyone know you get attacked.

Do you think your union dues should be spent telling you these things?

A vote for Obama is a vote for Socialism.

You say that like it's a bad thing... The rest of your post was probably one of the most off the mark things I've ever read on here. What's it like to traffic in stereotypes like that?

So the uninformed vote for the most educated candidates, and the informed vote for the least educated candidates? Hmmm...

Well put.

The great thing about living in the US is that we are a democracy.

No we're not.

We all like the ideal of democracy, but reality is a whole different animal.

Eighth, he doesn't speak very eloquently and says "uh" too much.

Who cares? As long as he handles the business, that's irrelevant. McCain isn't exactly a polished speaker, either...

Obama is naive, idealistic, lacks experience, and just isn't ready to be a leader of our nation.

We could use a good dose of idealism in this country.

As for why I'm voting for Obama, here's my top 4:

1. His stance on infrastructure renewal.

2. His advocacy of phased withdrawl from Iraq.

3. His plan for health care (have any Republican on here actually read McCain's?!)

4. His position on education

but I really don't care what you think.

Yes you do, or you wouldn't have posted. Unless you just like to "hear" yourself talk....

I also like his energy plan. It does not have a catchy slogan like "drill, baby, drill"

Energy Plan For the Future

Wow. The obvious question to you is why, instead of debating the topic and sharing your opinion, you decide to attack the poster and his opinions. Kinda of ironic a few posts ago a member stated he would keep his vote to himself for fear of getting attacked.

You deem his opinion "one of the most off the mark" and full of stereotypes. Well, his opinion may be "off the mark" in YOUR opinion.

Why don't you refute it with facts instead of attacks? Maybe because you have come up with zilch??
