3 ATL rampers busted in drug sting...

CBP used to have drug dogs walking the intake belts when I worked at JFK during the MBJ & KIN arrivals. You'd think they'd be watching MEX as well... How hard can it be to running inbound thru a CTX?...

They left the luggage at the baggage belt. Good thing bthey worked for the airline or that was just plain dumb.

When I worked in MEM, the CBP would turn working the AMS & MBJ flights into a sport.

... And yeah; these guys *are* dumb- all the more so, since several people got busted here for trying to smuggle the EXACT same way not too long ago.

One note from pedantry place: The article says an ALA is a "baggage handler." It's actually Delta-ese for "crew chief."

No union to protect these workers and condone this behavior!

These people will be given due process under the law.
If they are found not guilty, then they may seek their jobs back.

No more or no less than the financial robber barons that raped this country and will never see a minute in jail.
For a per capita financial thievery, the finance industry has stolen more capital than any one.

I know you're probably ignorant of the facts regarding union workers, so I'll cut you some slack for a change.

In a criminal case, I'm pretty certain there's no implied duty to represent them.

Kev can correct me, but the only duty a union would have to these idiots is if the Company took action against them before the Feds did.

Also, if they were ever cleared of charges. Otherwise, all the union can do is watch with the rest of us as they do the perp walk.

Fair enough, but what about when the union itself is the one condoning illegal actions? The other day there was an IBEW protest in Brookline at a project using non-union labor (didn't know such a thing existed in MA) and the union members were trespassing private property, police were on the scene but didn't ask them to leave. Last summer the IBEW held protest outside VZ executives homes in the NY/NJ area, sometimes even trespassing on their property and impeding traffic. Ah the double standards...

Nice attempt at deflecting -- trespassing is not something police enforce unless there's just cause or the property owners complain.

Your trespassing example is no different than the police not pulling over every motorist who drives 9 miles above the speed limit. On the highway, if it's not a danger, it goes unenforced. Do it in a school zone, and you're writing a very big check.

Funny you should mention this. 😛
‘ANYONE' can protest as long as they are on public property, not blocking traffic or being a public nuisance. If they trespass, then the trespassers are subject to the law 'IF' the owners and/or their representatives press charges.
That’s one of the great freedoms in Amerika that I am sure you would like to take away.
