 Don't you just love graphs with a half-a..ed description of how to use the darned thing????

Yep it's been a while since my conversion, can anyone please explain in a simple manner how to use this graph???

some numbers for ref;

palt 3500, oat 20c, 68tq, tot 690c, ng 96%, nr 390

3300, 24, 64, 680, 96, 390

 thanks

Which model as the B model graph is different. Also, if you have sand filter or inlet protection advise.

It is not a user friendly graph but will help if you look at the example and try to make your marks accordingly, also when you think you have it sorted out throw in some numbers that will make the graph go to one extreme or another, it helps to show the way the graph works.

Plotted your numbers with BA manual with no restrictions on intake and is correct although the second set of numbers is just barely ok. But you should be doing your checks at max continuous, either Q, Ng, or(unlikely) T4.(If you do hit a t4 limit prior to others you need to have maintenance check it out, as is not allowed)

Will give a version for BA.

1)Start at bottom and intersect torque and rotor rpm, go straight up to next chart block.

2)Follow on parallel angle to diagonal lines to altitude and mark this intersection and draw a line vertical to top of page(you will come back to this later)

3) Now go to top chart block and take oat and go to NG FIRST then(and heres the tricky part) go to the line which seperates CORRECT from INCORRECT, you must do this by going either straight up or straight down. Once at this line draw a line horzontal to intersect the vertical line from 2) above. This final intersection is where you tell if correct of incorrect.

The distance from the line is your only way of measuring how good or bad your engine is. Normal engine with no intake resrictions are usually the same distance from the correct line as where the dark dot marked P located from their expample.

Hope it helps.

I found the attached graph on the Internet, it makes the whole 350 series performance very easy to figure out.... 😀 😀

You forgot the Schweizer 300C somewhere between the 350B2 and the 407 😀 😀 😀

Haaa Haa, you soo funny!!! 😀 😀 😀

But you forgot the B3, or sorry the chart didn't go that high.

sc

Those fires out west better start up soon.. or this could post could get hot enough to start a fire of its own.. 😉

No Skull, the B3 would be on a different chart  ..along with 204's, 205's and 212's  🙁 (it would be where the Robbie is, of course 😉 )

B3 and 407 have within 5 engine horsepower of oneanother, the poor old B2 you like to put down has 115 less horsepower than your mighty 407. The 407 should be able to beat it hands down.

A little comparison, the B2 has 90 more horsepower that the B and look how much better it performs, the B3 has approx 110 more horsepower than a B2(200 more than the B). The B3 is a performer, no question.

But would still love to fly the 407 for awhile, what little I did was very impressive.

Skull, I hate to argue with someone as knowledgeable and talented as you, but......

My research says...

B3 - 847 Hp Takeoff- 728 Hp MCP
407 - 813 HP -BUT Derated to 674 Takeoff - 630 Hp MCP (Transmission Limits)
B2 - 732 Hp - 625 MCP

The EC site doesn't give the transmission derating limits on the 2 or 3 ?

Where did you get the 5 HP spread from???

----------------------------------------------------

You'd like the 407, a couple of noteable jobs it's done for me.....

* 6 pass and gear, 1.0 fuel on board, SnowDome last year (11,550') (X 5 trips).
*1,400 Lbs + generator INTO the bowl on the Cathedral Glacier, 9500'
*1,800 lb Snow guns moved at Lk Louise, approx 8500'
* 2,000 lb Measured load to the top station KHMR ski hill +10C, 7,800 (with HOGE) August 2000. OK, the doors, seats, and basket were stripped off, 250 lb fuel (.2 remaining) even left my Wallet at home for that one

MGB rating for the B2 is 655HP, 30HP higher than MCP.

When does the 407 start temping out (alt/temp) on those hot days?

By the way 407D - looks like quite the article in Vertical - haven't read it yet - you and your bird in it?

"left my wallet at home" yep, that saved you more weight then the average line driver out there can imagin'.................I here carrying a stack of 100 bills around can get pretty heavy
