OK CAPT,

I won't taunt Bus anymore! "But he started it", LOL. Everyone at Frontier truly has nothing to fear from a company that is on the verge of self-destruction. He keeps harping on about their 6M profits for JULY. Still hard for me to understand how they can lose 243M and still say that they made 6M they could put in the bank. And then he goes on about CAP cuts of 13% BLA, BLA, BLA. I wonder how much CAP was cut with all those 737 they are parking for good? And I still haven't seen UAL stats for AUG! Are they afraid to post them or maybe they are to embarrassed to post them.

Anyway, CAPT is right, I'll leave the UAL board and drop in once in a while when I need a good laugh. But then again CAPT I got 20 bucks riding on that hangar closing down before OCT 15th.

Bye All at UAL, enjoy YOUR RIDE!

The money part gets reported at the end of this month. Here's the traffic though. In short, Load factor UP, Capacity UP.

CHICAGO, Sept. 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- With its flights averaging 83.8% full, United Airlines' total scheduled revenue passenger miles (RPMs) increased in August 2004 by 9.9% on a capacity increase of 8.3% available seat miles (ASMs) vs. the same period in 2003. For the fifth month in a row, United has broken its load-factor record for the month.

Even with flights fuller than ever, United's operational performance continues to improve. In fact, the U.S. Department of Transportation yesterday reported that United led the seven major U.S. airlines* in on-time performance for the month of July, for the second month in a row

In case you don't understand how it works, when UAL "parks some old 737's, they quit paying for them. When FRNT parks a new Airbus....well it shouldn't be tough for even you to figure it out....

Bus,

They don't even give UniTED a good mention. Guess they must be counting you completely out of the game by the end of 2005!

BUS,

Nothing at F9 is parked, where did you hear that? Capacity cut 13% this time of year is nothing for F9 we did the same last year. Hey CAPT told me your un-employed, sorry to hear that. And again I looked deep into that article again and still no mention of defunct UniTED? WHY????

But you know what BUS, I am going to do other things with my time. I got X-Mas shopping and things like that to get started on. Get ready for a VERY MERRY X-MAS here  Oh and Halloween, love Halloween. And then Thanksgiving, OMG we'll be racking in the dough then.

But YOU have a good x-mas, hope you find a job by then. Happy holidays to all of you at UAL. Enjoy your RIDE!

1)$500MM more in annual cuts needed. 2)Load factor is 83.8%. 3)Parking 20 more 737s. Items 2 and 3 should give you your item 1. If you can't get that money from parking 20 planes and running with an insanely high load factor, then give it up. I am also sick and tired of hearing about those low yields. If you are losing money, charge more. USAirways appears to be heading south at a rather quick rate and that should benefit UA also.

Driver,
You are correct and honest in the appraisal. The problem is that UAL’s revenues have fallen faster than its expenses since it has been in bankruptcy. Talk of grounding a number of aircraft will only exacerbate the problem since an RJ replacement cannot possibly carry as much revenue. Further, Indy has yet to announce their schedule to the west coast from IAD and it is bound to hurt UAL. They may wait until next spring and focus on Florida for the winter but they could start picking off the west coast as soon as this winter. Further, most IAD fares are higher than from JFK to comparable cities which gives you an idea of where they will be going.

Fish,
Despite your fixation with DEN, I don’t think UA will dismantle it as a hub anytime soon. First, even though UA will probably have to pay back rent and current rent charges are high relative to other airports, including ORD, it will take a while for all of the legal steps to run out before UAL has to actually write the check. Second, ORD is constrained right now so there is no way UA could shift the traffic they carry through DEN to ORD – and there aren’t any other alternative hubs to which UA could shift the DEN traffic. Third, UA’s situation in DEN is quite a bit different than DL’s at DFW: UA is the dominant airline at DEN; DL has never been at DFW; DFW was really duplicating many of the O&Ds that could be carried over both ATL and SLC; it made long-term sense to get rid of a duplicate hub. Fourth, while it hasn’t fully played out, DL may have delivered a body blow to AA and diverted LCC growth in DL’s other hubs by pulling down DFW since it opens up a large competitor’s hub to LCC growth. As I’ve said before, AA and DL are likely to be the two mega-carriers going forward; this move helps DL regain its footing relative to AA since there are relatively few other places where LCCs can grow in DL’s network vs considerable vulnerability at AA (DFW and the Caribbean plus more transcon where DL is a relatively small player).

For the sake of the employees at UAL, I wish that United management would learn from airline history and realize you can’t shrink an airline to profitability and you can’t expect employees to support the company if you pound away at their pay and incentive to see the airline survive (pension). Unfortunately, UA is heading down the same path US is on….

<_< World---- It amases me that since the demise of TWA, and the cut back of a.a. at STL, no one to date has tryed to fill that void in STL! Purfect overflow for ORD! But a.a. dosen't seem to think so!

AA may not think so, but by your own observation neither does anyone else. If the passenger loads were there, someone would be attempting to service it.

Wow.....all this spewing b#%&sh&t from a guy who was fired from United. Surprised? Lmaoooooooooo

Tilton's gonna have to start burning the furniture this fall. The economy is still crap and is going to remain so for the forseeable future, and it's looking like GW is going to get four more years of claiming the economy is great while shipping jobs overseas and replacing them with illegal alien style jobs. Anybody have any idea what routes he's going to sell? Pacific maybe?

"CAP", otherwise known as "guy who didn't meet UAL's standards", don't know Jack WRT my employment. FWIW, I'm covered, so sleep well tonight union brother 🙄 . But OK, "nothings parked" at FRNT. But the assets you have are now being used 13% less. Hey, that's smart, keep extra unneeded jets up to speed inspection wise. That's way cheaper thn temp storage.. 🙄 .

As to the comments about fuel. Sounds awful easy to just "raise prices". Problem is, if you o, the loads drop to FRNT levels for the additional 5 bucks a ticket. If you don't follow the attempted price increases, you reap a huge revenue bump. Game theory. Unfortunately for Fish, it's not part of the GED. Now it's become a much bigger game of short term survival. Unfortunately, some of the LCC's are burning cash at a MUCH faster rate, and may have serious "liquidity"issues in short order. I guess we'll see. Ironically, the three who appear to be in the biggest trouble are UAL's biggest LCC comps: ATA, Indy, and FRNT

Bus,

If F9 is having such a luquidity problem as you call it! Then why hasn't Frontier implimented all the BullS%$T ticket fees that all you legacy carriers are sticking to the paying passenger? But I quess UAL in BK and needing rapidly 1.6billion in financing puts you in such a better finanical position? We'll see the outcome of Indepenance Airs fare sale they are going to stick to you all on the east coast. See how well the Big Broke Legacy carriers handle that one during these long lonely months of fall and winter.

Everyone is going to get to watch UAL self destruct, just as it is at USAIR.

Now Bussy you have reached an all-time low. I guess flying fast movers for Uncle Sam, earning a master's degree, successfully running an aviation corporation, and flying for one of the more successful airlines in the country doesn't qualify me to fly for you. I guess I didn't meet the minority quota, or maybe I never applied. What an idiot. I feel sorry for you my friend.

Listen sport, you're the one making comments concerning "not wanting guys like me on your property". but I'm impressed, you flew fast movers, paid your fee, got your ERU B and titled yourself as COO of an FBO. 🙄 . But there you go with the minority quota sour grapes act. I got the complexion of a jar of Helmans. Somehow it wasn't such an issue for me. but go ahead, tell us all how you wanted to fly for one of the lowest paying airlines in the country. Didn't want to fly for a major? fine, how about all the lcc's that pay better? If you indeed had at least one masters level accounting class at ERU then you should have a little more "SA" than to call FRNT "one of the more successful" airlines. You got BIG issues comming soon, and I've got a hunch that although Fish and Chips doesn't see it, you do, so spare us at UAL the insults, and I'll gladly extend the same curtesy. <_<

Just an FYI for those of you at UAL who are facing additional pay and benefit cuts...

The TV was on while I was brushing my teeth. One of those mindless gossip shows, like Access Hollywood, was on. They were talking about the preparations for tonight's Emmy show.

An interesting tidbit came out. Every single one of the presenters tonight will be presented with a "gift bag" of stuff worth over $30,000. Things like perfumes and designer sweaters and the like--all donated by each company--i.e., Sprint donated a Sprint phone and something like a year free use or some such. Now for the interesting part...

Included in the gift bag was two F/C tickets on United Airlines worth $5,000 each. Aren't you glad that those TV stars are able to travel free on UAL--makes your concessions all worth it, doesn't it?

Two F/C tickets, that is SOOOOOOOOOOOOO Fricking funny. Just shows you how stupid the folks running UAL truly are. Nothing amazes me anymore about what transpires at that dire straights company. If you can't get them to buy the big price tickets, might as well give 'em away huh BUSSY and FLY.

We fly over 200,000 people everyday and you all are complaining about giving away a handfull of tickets? Sound like good P.R. to me.
