You can't go by just those numbers. For instance, it showed AA used up $100 million in cash in 1st quarter. What the number doesn't tell you is that $75 million of that was a contribution to the pension fund.

You need more information than what is provided in that chart.

Yeah, American can still play the Chapter 11 card and take away all the pensions...a surefire way to permanent profitability as we have all seen.

those are 1Q numbers, and always the worst Q of the year...

While I don’t agree that we are destined to close our doors , I do like the fact that this thread is trying to look beyond the end of next week …

We MUST improve everything at this company … we MUST become the leader in all of the DOT stats …..

The time for labor unrest is at an end … the window has closed or is almost closed on any union not in a new contract getting improvements. Once again , I remind any union not yet in a new contract , if there’s ANYTHING on the table , even SLIGHTLY better than what you’ve got now , sign it and close the deal ASAP ….

Face it folks , the American economy is in a tail spin …. Jump on to CNN and check the business section , oils about ready to start clubbing our industry over the head again ….

We’ve got to get our asses in gear NOW , before it’s too late …. Do your jobs to the best of your abilities .

FREEDOM, I agree. I feel the days of National Unions have ended and it is time to TAKE CARE of ourselves. Just look what Ford ? GM ? did. New small car plant in MEXICO. how abhorrable.

Delta signs deal with DAL pilots leaving NWA out in the cold etc.

No more Mother Ships and their overbloated over paid staffs.

And Bitter. Vote for CHANGE !!

Okay, a call to action.

Well, US is already number one for low morale, highest number of lost bags and most customer complaints. As soon as US falls off those pinnacles, management must find a way to re-attain those lofty trophies.

Though not a recognized accolade, I would like to point out that with the lowest labor costs in the industry for over three years, management has yet to secure a #1 position in profit, something even "What, me worry?" Alfred E. Neuman would have been proud of.

and, you know, after management shot their wad with the IT debacle, driving passengers with money away, they may have problems securing their positions over time and will likely fall to lower rankings in those areas. </snark>
