9000 flight numbers?

These flights ran because US AIRWAYS EXPRESS CANCELED had to REACCOMMODATE the passengers no were to put them. MAN THIS IS GOING TO BE A LONG SUMMER

John John,

Please don't take this rudely because I don't mean it as such, but have you ever pondered going to a mainline only station. You hate, no make that loathe all of the Express carriers. You know it, we all know it, why don't you transfer to TPA, RSW, MIA, LAS, PHX, LGA or any of the other stations that are all mainline.

I understand holding the Express carriers up to the same standards as mainline. That should be basic operating procedure. I worked at a mainline station downgraded to all express. I understand the differences. But I understood that was the sitation I was in. Mesa is Mesa, they aren't leaving. Find a station they don't fly to and work there, you will be a happier person.

Sorry to hijack the thread. I have seen Express sub for other Express carriers, usually done through the EOM.

So what are you saying mesa SUX get over it and move on. Express has its place at US Airway but 2/3 of the airline is way out of line.It would be hard to transfer to a station were you didn’t work or be affective by a express flight.

Only time I've seen Express sub for mainline was in conjunction with mainline... twice out of JAX.... B757 flight to CLT was replaced with A319 and PSA CRJ once, and A320 and PSA CRJ on another occasion.

PSA subs to Key West happened a number of times because Republic hasn't yet figured out how to operate as an air carrier.

You can’t find a station that express does not fly to except Europe/some Caribbean/central America can’t transfer there because it is either outsourced or no transfer rights.I would love to see my station back to mostly mainline with some express filler so we can kick WN B6 AA CO DL NW UA butt like WE USE TO

East is getting rid of Mesa's RJs, but West is moving some of Mesa's 900s to East.

What a shame. Being based in CLT I've watched the C concourse taken over by the Mesa jets, not only that I've heard so many complaints about service and preformance. I had hoped that with the E190 we would see some flying coming back to mainline.

I know Mesa covers HP flights all the time out of PHX. In CLT, Airways doesn't provide Mesa with any spares (remember airways controls how the airplanes are used) so there is no way Mesa can cover a mainline flight unless something else was to CX.

As for the flights yesterday, they were both Mesa flights that were CX'ed because Mesa had 3 aircraft get stuck in IAH when the airport was shut down for a monster T.S. from 4am til 10am. Mesa has 2 overnighters that got stuck (7am and 8:30 am flights both left after 10:30am) and the morning CLT-IAH flight had to divert to MSY and was running 4 hrs late becase of it. Not exactly Mesa's fault.

Again, if Airways would allow Mesa a spare or two this kind of stuff might not have to happen. Or maybe Airways doesn't give Mesa a spare b/c they know they have spares that can cover cx'ed express flights.

Before people bash the express carriers, they need to remember that much of the express product is controlled by mainline Airways. No spares, no rampers, unrealistic flight blocks, 24 minute turns, mainline stealing express slots (during long airport delays), ect. All happens and all makes the express carriers look bad even though they don't control it. -Cape

Wrong! US does not dictate a/c routing for non owned express. US does not build blocks for non owned express.
US does consult with express and dictate what cities express will fly, what a/c type they want, etc.

US does NOT run the show at the express carriers, nor do they attempt to.

As 700 would say....get your facts straight.

Non-owned express flying(routes) are BID on by the express carriers. They work their own deal with Airways. Airways does have some say as to what equipment they would like and frequencys, etc. However, if MESA(or any other express carrier) wants a spare aircraft or crews sitting around, they can have as many as they want, but it is on their dime. Airways or any other carrier should not have to pay for their express carriers to have $$millions$$ of dollars worth of aircraft sitting around as spares. They have a contract/agreement to provide the service they signed up for and it is up to them to provide it. We all know that penny-pinching JO is not going to spend one nickel to make MESA look better by having any spares.
I do agree that weather is not the fault of any carrier.

I'm not even sure where to start. What you must be thinking of is the Pro-rate contracts that carriers like Colgan run under.

Mesa,CHQ and AW all run under "Fee for Departure" contracts. Under these contracts the regional supplies the airplanes and crews and Airways is in TOTAL control of everything else. EVERYTHING. Airways DOES control routing, DOES control city blocks, DOES control what cities we fly to and DOES control what type of aircraft we use on these routes. In fact EVERYTHING you said above is wrong.

If you think your right, and Mesa controls were the airplanes fly, do you think Mesa would have moved 14 airplanes from PHX/LAS to CLT? AHHHHHHHHHHH no. Airways made Mesa move these airplanes.

You may now open mouth and incert foot! -Cape
