Looks like some bad decisions were made....?!?!?!

We took those poor passengers to PHL last night, 12 hours late.
From the 767, then a 757 and finally a 321. From all accounts, they asked for a liaison to assist them but didn't get one. My guess is the mess that this turned out to be, we lost approx 200 future US Airways customers.
By the way Rio canceled at 200am. Don't know why, though.

This whole airline(if you can call it that) is one screwed up joke

What's the available policy guidance on high cabin temperatures in the industry? Are pilots and/or flight attendants typically able to refer to an outside "wet-bulb" temperature or a cabin temperature and work a graph that identifies the maximum time that a plane can sit on the ramp before either starting the second engine (was it a single engine with APU or APU only or were both engines running? was it a single pack issue?) or returning to the gate for conditioned air or deplaning? One would think that airlines with extensive operations in hot and humid or extremely hot and dry climates would have some sort of policy in place to address this issue.

A temperature of 115 degrees and a small child with a parent who may not be familiar with heat injuries could result in a fatality. In addition to the temperature, I would bet that the relative humidity in CLT yesterday afternoon was at least 70%.

It's patently unfair to expect crews of any airline to "wing it" when determining how hot and humid is too hot and humid, especially when it involves a potential return to the gate. Policy guidance is essential. I'd bet that not a single related FAA requirement or an airline that has any such guidance, although it would be refreshing to learn otherwise (is that a pun?).

I am glad that someone had the presence of mind to ice down the little one and that the 2 EMTs also came forward.

There isn't really any mention in the article of passenger unrest, and if that's saying that there wasn't any or that it didn't get out of hand, wow, my hat's off to the crew for somehow maintaining the calm under very difficult circumstances.

Why did the CA not refuse the aircraft?

Out in Phoenix when a/c was not available on an aircraft and it was hot the CA would refuse boarding until it was cooled down. If the aircraft could not be cooled down then we either changed out aircraft or canceled the flight.

We were the replacement crew that arrived at 9pm.
When one of the passengers started telling us what had happened, several others came over to add their piece.
Apparently there had been maintenance on the a/c and at some point they took off but returned to the airport (for lack of a/c?), this is coming from passenger perspectives. 2 f/a's were injured by cart(s) and at least one passenger was standing for landing as we were told (by passengers) that there was no landing notification. Some folks said the kid had asthma and others said a seizure. They tried and failed to get a supervisor to help them advise if they needed to retrieve luggage from baggage claim (or not), get rebooked (or not), get food vouchers etc etc etc. We are talking almost 200 passengers, shaken up by the situation and without guidance. I must say that although some were about to explode with frustration they were grateful to finally be leaving.
Why would it take 12 hours for a hub to hub flight to be put together?
I mentioned the cancellation of the Rio flight because it was cancelled just as we were getting off of our plane. It looks like they might have repo'd a plane with crew down there this morning for the scheduled flight back though.

Why would it take 12 hours for a hub to hub flight to be put together?

Because it was east metal and crew in a west hub. The company is not allowed to place west metal and crew to cover an east flight.

The flight was going CLT-PHL.

These B767's need TO GO. Like yesterday.........nothing but trouble. Never really cared for the a/c when they were New and certainly see nothing worth keeping 25 years later. Seems something could be 'arranged' with Airbus and/or a leasing company to purge this small fleet off our hands and fly a complete AB widebody fleet........it may take money but it would be WELL WORTH the countless MTC issues, delayed flights and customer inconvenience.

To add to the delay dispatch did not have a flight plan for us and it took over 30 minutes of added delay to get us the correct paperwork and a flight plan in the system.

Was this the same aircraft that was involved in the fumes incident back in December? We heard that both pilots had there medicals pulled due to illness along with the flight attendents still out sick with with some sort of toxic poisoning?

That's very interesting. I would love to know also. CNN has also got hold of this & has been airing it all morning. Quite frankly I'm glad & hope they keep on airing it. This place in the crapper & people need to know.

By any reasonable metric, performance or financial this airline is running better then it has for at least the last 10 years. So obliviously your metrics are unreasonable?

What is your point other than to bash the airline?
