Now since the new AA will be the bigest in the world. Do you think the New AA will ever get an A380? I like to think yes but on the other hand why would AA need an A380.

And what routes would you think an AA A380 can handel IF AA gets an A380?

Think the 777 will handle pretty much all of AAs long haul needs.
Very hard aircraft to beat-performance wise.

JFK-LHR (With slots at both ends, mine as well pack the passenger in)

Yeah, uh, no. The only airlines ordering it are those who've been pressured by their governments (BA, AF, LH) and the Middle East & Asian carriers who really do carry that many people...

Then again, as some of the carriers who have ordered it wind up selling them in a few years, DL will probably buy them. They've never met a type they didn't like.

Cue in Worldtravler in 3....2...1......

E is right... it is doubtful that any US airline will order the 380 (at least one that wants to remain solvent).

the 744, however, hasn't been put out to pasture just yet.

(see, I came in on cue and under 30 words).

Way too much aircraft considering how volatile the world is, climbing oil prices, worldwide sour economies and the ever hanging threat of terrorism. The 777 can meet any need for any destination AA will have and if more service is needed, increase frequency or drop frequency as needed.
I don't see the A380 as having many more orders except for a few add on orders.

On the morning of the merger announcement, we had Chuck Schubert, AA VP of Network Planning, visiting the PHL hub. I asked him directly if the combined company had any visions of SYD or any other place in Australia. He said that there are no aircraft in the combined fleet, current or on order, that would have the range to make it without a fuel stop. Same with CPT (Cape Town, South Africa). IMO the only aircraft that would make since, that would have the range and still stay consistant with the current fleet, is the A340. The B747 or the A380 would both be a white elephant, unless we made a heavy investment into the fleet type.

Someone may want to explain to him the capability of the 787.

I guess I hallucinated about the time I flew LAX-SYD on VA a few years back... Since both VA and DL still use it, it clearly has the range from LAX. And, it has commonality and is currently in the fleet...

Adding the A340 would be a colossal mistake.
