AA is quite generous

Sell the assets at fire sale prices.
Lease them back at inflated fees.
He11, if Madoff can do it, why can’t everyone else (as if they haven’t.. … :p )
The ‘fundamentals’ are broken and we can’t put Humpty back together again.

Better practice the 'Bend Over'...

Employees maybe?
Did you ever think that if AA and UA don't keep companies like VX etc. out of ORD then AA employees will pay for it? Entry of VX into ORD would be a huge reason for AMR to demand even more concessions and your union would most likely agree/cave in first. On the other hand you're already used to givnng concessions so in a way it may be a wasted effort.
Let me try this again....I was responding to eolesen statement regarding AA and UA possibly getting a sweetheart deal out of their kicking in somewhat for the runway project at ORD.
He added that it might "payoff" in spades for AA and UA....
THE PAYOFF WILL BE FOR THE EXECUTIVES AND EXECUTIVES ALONE for making that masterful decision in funding the runway.

Nice try, Hopeful. Assuming the runways get built, AA and UA are still going to be the prime beneficiaries, and the employees payoff will be the paychecks they get from working all the flights going in and out of ORD on UA and AA metal.

It's certainly a better deal than what's been brewing in New York, where the incumbents stand to be losing 10% of their current flights. Without the runways, what's to stop the FAA from taking away 10% each from AA and UA?....

You miss the point Warren Eolesen Buffet.....

The top notch AA execs will get rewarded down the road should what you predict transpire.
They will get more REWARD pay in the terms of stock options and PUPS because they made the masterful decisions to fund the runway project......all while the same AA and UA worker continues to get the same old paycheck.

Yea some payoffs for the workers.

Nice try, Warren, er I mean eolesen.
