AMR Corp.'s (AMR) American Airlines Inc. unit expects to receive six more Boeing 737-800 jets during the first half of 2009.

AMR, Fort Worth, Texas, said Thursday it moved up the delivery dates of a total of nine jets under a 47-aircraft commitment with Boeing Co. (BA).

The revised delivery schedule is part of the carrier's plan to boost its fleet's fuel efficiency of by more than 20% by 2020.

American Airlines said it will continue pulling forward delivery dates for the remaining jet orders into a 2009-to-2012 timeframe from the current delivery schedule of 2013 to 2016.
