Has anybody else heard that Air Wisconson got cold feet at the alter? Maybe US Airways isn't the atractive suitor he was a month ago?

I've heard it's being kept quiet, but Uncle Bruce is supposed to be in Philly tommorrow escorting some new dates around.

This could have been a good ploy for AW to get a stronger foothold with UAL.

What is considered cold feet since U already has what...$100 mil of their cash?

US Airways Watch (April 6, 2005)

ARLINGTON (Pittsburgh Post-Gazette) - US Airways investor Air Wisconsin Airlines is losing some of its regional feeder business at United Airlines to rival carriers, making a new air services partnership with US Airways more likely, UBS analyst Robert Ashcroft said. United has reached agreements with regional carriers SkyWest and GoJet Airlines to fly 30 planes under the United Express banner in 2006, replacing work done by Air Wisconsin. Ashcroft said in a research note that Air Wisconsin, recent investor of $125 million in US Airways, was likely to exercise an option to move some or all of 70 planes to the US Airways Express network. Ashcroft said Air Wisconsin's jets might replace some already provided to US Airways by Phoenix-based Mesa Air.

And if US goes out of business, Air Wisconsin just screwed themselves royally by burning their bridge with United.... not a smart business move on their part.

Same could be said for UAL...really all these regionals are just gambling right now. Who wins? Who knows. If oil goes to $100+...I would guess no one. LOL

From all indication though it appears that US is in a much more percarious situation and would probably fold before United... JMHO

If ??????

Last month US Airways closed down its wheels and brakes assembly shop in Charlotte. So now it ships these assemblies to California for the rework with a shipping cost of $2500 per truck full.

See the thread on seats. See the thread on batteries.

IF ?????

Regionals like AW ought to be very nervous right now. The only reason AW is helping US Air is to keep the cash flow going. They know that when the host dies, the parasite does also. Having UAL and/or U as your primary customers is not a business strategy that destined for success.

It's about time that these regional airlines get off the fee-for-departure free ride and start having to really compete in the marketplace.

Ahh... Don't you just love public information.

On the Magic-8-Ball, "all signs pointed to yes". And then it occured. Isn't it nice when the SEC rules are actually followed?

Well, its official United just dumped AW as one of their commuter partners. U belongs to them now...the plot thickens!!!! Just what is John O going to do now?

Yes, it is official.

Looks like a certain US pilot was once again wrong, wrong, wrong with his prediction of the Air Wisconsin issue leaving United confused with no options. (This means you, USA320pilot)

Of course he was also wrong when he predicted the downfall of United when ACA turned into Independence Air. According to him we were going to have all kinds of problems when we lost our feed in IAD.

Come to think about it, now that US is selling assets such as Shuttle gates and slots and 737's... It reminds me of the doom and gloom he predicted for UA when we sold one or two un-used London slots in Newark. He painted quite a dark picture saying the end was near now that UA was "selling significant assets."

Gee Sparky, sounds like gates, slots, and airplanes are a pretty significant asset sale to me. Why are you suddenly so optimistic with the shoe on the other foot?

Could you possibly have an agenda of your own?
Care to take this opportunity to admit that your opinions and speculations were wrong? You did say that you admit when you are wrong, didn't you?

Prove it.

US is not selling Shuttle gates, they have the option to sell Slots and lease them back to Republic then purchase them back, and the are not selling any 737s, they are returning them to the leaseholders.
