Air Wisconsin - The Runaway Bride?

P.S. Did you hear what one furloughed United piliot said to another furloughed United pilot? TED is United without "U-N-I" TED.

😛 That's funny. Did you get that from your 7 yr old daughter? It's been around since the day Ted was envisioned. Try some new material please.

The issue is that you believe United pilots deserve super seniority with a pre-nuptial agreement, but that is very unlikely to happen due to ALPA Merger Policy and Allegheny-Mohawk LPPs.
[post="261562"][/post]

No. Actually the issue is that I don't believe a bitter, self-centered, jealous, almost-scab, should have the desire to fly anything bigger than an A320, since that is all he would see in his career as US. You see, ALPA merger policy specifically is absent any date-of-hire language, and very specific with regard to career expectations. So I have no reason to fear seniority issues.

Also, as others have pointed out to you, any M&A activity would be handled like AA/TWA. Sign on the dotted line or pound sand. That is what YOU fear. Sorry that you don't like the facts that I tell you, but please don't shoot the messenger.

you cannot stand the fact that United have assets sold,
[post="261562"][/post]

WTF, over? What on earth are you babbling about now? UA has not sold off any assets. How long 'till USscAir does?

P.S. Did you hear that UA is expanding it's international route structure? That means more wide body flying that you will NEVER see. Go cry into your shot glass about that! :lol:

and then US Airways chairman of the board publicly said in four separate interviews he wanted to buy United assets for US Airways if it made sense for the Arlington-based company.

[post="261562"][/post]
You mean the Chairman who was shown the door?

Unfortunately, the Chairman of the Board is still here, you mean the CEO.

Then who is A320pilot referring to? (And can we use names instead of titles cuz I'm getting confused...)

767jetz:

Are we a little emotional? I still believe UA will survive, but it will be a smaller company. In fact, isn’t UA eliminating 110 aircraft and going from 565 to 455 jets? I do not know what each EETC or lease agreement states, but are all of the jets being removed lease rejections or aircraft sales? Furthermore, the company has been unable to articulate of POR and its still unclear when it will attempt to exit bankruptcy, if ever.

In regard to US Airways asset sales, the company may sell 10 RJs, transfer 15 RJ leases, permit 3 RJs in Brazil to go to Republic, and sell/lease back 137 commuter, not mainline, slots.

In regard to your thoughts on seniority integration (Also, as others have pointed out to you, any M&A activity would be handled like AA/TWA. Sign on the dotted line or pound sand. That is what YOU fear), UA and US pilots are bound by ALPA merger policy and Allegheny-Mohawk LPPs, unlike AA/TW. By the way, why would you support a staple job?

Moreover, any potential deal would likely be done with private equity because UA and US are broke, thus the new owner would likely have a say in the matter.

Best regards,

USA320Pilot

P.S. Why do you come over to the US board with your comments? With all due respect, are you concerned that you might be pulling up my landing gear?

Hey Skippy, congrats on the recalls... 🙄 What's a 86 new hire hold these days? Had a 570 bud over a couple days ago. He REALLY likes the 400 (not the 737-400...)

Never said I support a staple job. My reference to "sign on the dotted line" refers to the final interpretation of ALPA's career expectation policy. No one would get involved in long protracted legal battles. Either agree to what the unions negotiate, or pound sand. (By the way, date of hire is a non-starter.)

Let's see... Don't have the exact numbers handy, but a junior 320 captain at UA is about a mid-1996 hire date. So you would get about a mid-1996 seniority number. Not the 1985 seniority you gave up and wish you could have back. And not much chance of me slinging your gear, Sparky. :lol:

Add to that the fact that a 1986 hire USAir pilot of your age would never see the left seat of a 767 or A330, you'd certainly be fenced off the 767, 777, and 747. Of course if you want to eventually see the world and bid a senior 777 F/O seat before you retire, you're welcome to sling my gear! :lol: (Just don't expect any landings.)

None of this talk really ammounts to a hill of beans though, because consolidation could come in the form of an asset sale of a company in CH7.

Did you happen to miss this quote:
"We're enthusiastic about the prog- ress they've made," said Bill Repko, managing director at J.P. Morgan Chase & Co., United's lead provider of bankruptcy financing. "I think the challenges are not to be underestimated, but within reasonable expectations, they are likely to be met."

You see, in the grown-up world of airlines, we use banks not loan sharks. I'll take the word of the 2 biggest financial instituions in the world over that of an insignificant, self-proclaimed analyst like you any day of the week.

Keep up the mud-slinging guys. Pilots are their own worst enemies when it comes to doing what's right for the profession. And, what a stellar profession it has become. Nice going...not.

With all due respect, are you concerned that you might be pulling up my landing gear?

Gee, I pull up the gear every other leg. Am I doing something wrong?

I am not sure what this means, but the facts are:

UAL sold something like 2 LHR slots which were unused.
US Airways announced a sale/lease-back 113 DCA and 24 LGA commuter slots.
US Airways has "dismantled" a hub at PIT
US Airways has shuttered various support workplaces (like certain MX Hangers and Res offices).

As it stands today, UAL is much more "whole" to its 2001 self than US Airways is.

"United is now shooting to emerge from bankruptcy next September and Tilton is optimistic that will happen."News Item

Regarding your Post Script: Psychological projection is defined as assuming that others share the same or similar thoughts, fears, concerns or positions on any given subject. According to the theories of Sigmund Freud, it is a psychological defense mechanism whereby one "projects" one's own undesirable thoughts, motivations, desires, feelings, onto someone else (usually another person) that they themselves fear most.

I believe that about covers it. 😛

Can you guys pull on your landing gears, or each other's or compare them or whatever through the PM function? What an obnoxious thread.

Here I was looking for an update about Air Wisconsin and such, but instead two pages of boys in the sandbox fighting over toys they neither own or have any control of.

🙄
