American Airlines and Labor Negotiations

At the end of the day, the IAM Pension withdrawal liability may be arbitrated. The company may bring in negligence from the nepotism that shares the responsibility with the IAM. I don't know but arbitration is an option unlike what weez says. And a partial withdrawal is also another option.

But I'll say it again, the proposal on the table from the IAM is 5% IAM Pension and north of 4% 401k. I only saw the proposal from the company but the IAM says that 9% isn't enough.

For 2 months? Wow. So the co. put this info out since the union wasn't going to? Incredible...

robbed, how does the scope look? Is it as bad as the union made out to believe??
As long as the where and when directed yes its that bad. Esp when compared to say what we currently have now . Ive long felt we should not give anything in scope or others up

At least the company put their proposal out! The association is hiding something! The association is waiting for Doug to pump in 5-10 million dollars to the international! Put the contract out for vote! Let the members tell the union and company how we feel!!!!

The company did not post the full proposal. Just the juicy stuff. When is the membership going to wake up? The association needs to post our full proposal to the company with notations of counters and rebuttals. Too bad they won't. So here we wait as another year goes by.

Check your @AA.com email account. You should have a letter regarding the full contract and links to it.

If its anything like what the CWA has then it wont be good. I would hope folks wld vote based on scope rather than money but given the length of time n all the bs ive seen on here i highly doubt that'll occur.
Robbed its the same scope we've had for years, but if TWU wants to hold out for clearer language fine with me...ill wait

So let me get this straight, the ASS negotiating strategy is we as members have act like 4 year olds and whine and complain that daddy company AA isn’t giving us everything we want so we don’t want to play anymore and are going to hold our collective breaths till daddy company gives in. Oh my what a joke this ASS is.

Nobody ever gets everything but one thing is certain we all continue to loose in this and the company just sits and laughs at those so called negotiators

So let's see...Fleet Crew Chiefs, who will now become a working part of the crew when needed will go to the bottom of the overtime list because they are a different classification but performed agent duties on shift?
Sign me up!
Hi sweetie you should be used to being on the bottom

It’s in the works.

robbed its exactly what we have now. You havent read the proposal. When and where directed only means we cant refuse charter work or we cant refuse to clean an airplane. it is additional work outside our already great scope.

I don’t think it’s quite as dramatic as you make it out to be for all Multiemployer plans but I will concede that there are some out there that engaged in some shady chit.

I’m not going to listen to you say that any of us should feel sorry for the poor little Corporations though who lobbied and got away with underfunding their own liabilities in their in house Pensions.

BTW I think having to pay that fee is a part of that 2006 PPA Law meant to make sure you have some security if any Companies want to back out of that obligation maybe leaving the Taxpayers on the hook to take care of people?

I completely agree with you regarding corporations under funding in-house pension obligations. It's almost criminal as the pension funding would be part of employee compensation, thus I have little patience for on-going business concerns who file BK, then dump their unfunded pension obligations. However, as far as I know, the Company has not defaulted on its $1.05/hour obligation for all LUS FSC's (and MX?), so the money has been provided to the IAMNPF, per the agreement.

Frankly, and naively, I assumed if the funds were placed within a separate, 3rd party trustee with fiduciary obligations (IAMNPF) the retirement benefits were secure. Part of me was thinking one way, but with enough finance/accounting background as I read the reports, I sensed the future was becoming rocky. Pension accounting under the rules of GAAP and FASB would be akin to a black magic for which only those well-initiated in the art truly understand the details. Now I recognize we have been duped by the IAMNPF hucksters promoting "Green Zone" making our pension among the top plans in the country to be absolute horse $h!+.

In 2010 we voted down a raise, sick time, personal days etc etc

Not even 2 full years after Great Recession at time when there was 9.6 unemployment, because it wasn’t restore and more. Then we have union guys saying he’s ok with his pay. AA flys outside Oklahoma and Texas I don’t want to hear from an old union guy who lives in low cost of living area getting two paychecks that he’s ok with his pay.

At what point do we actually accept a pay raise.

The Association is in the process of doing just that I’ve been told.

Now before you throw more rocks remember that just like it took a few days for the Company to put it together to get it out to all of us through Computer, it could likely take a little time for our guys to do the same?

I don’t think they should need to put out the already TA’d stuff as that could confuse people?
Especially since our guys will be using crayons

Actually it will likely be the Association’s Lawyers who will be putting it together but I can understand your cheap shots since you’re obviously not intelligent enough yourself to understand the language.

I think they need to kick up the pay a bit.
