American Airlines and Labor Negotiations

I finally got to watch the LGA town hall meeting. I have no issue with the top brass speaking up on our behalf, but it was very unprofessional to say the least. They really did make us all look like a bunch of Bafoons. You can get the point across to Isom without shouting and repeating yourself. It couldn't have looked worse, with the president of the local turning around backwards to read off what he wanted to say. Get yourself together, have the notes in front of you, and face the guy who you're engaging with in conversation. I could have looked more professional when I was in HS.
If this is the approach that they bring to the table, we're screwed even worse than I thought.
I'm willing to bet that 98% of the people in the room were rolling their eyes for the entire rant.
Hell, I was embarrassed just by watching the video.
Lots of frustration. Some good points were made such as the profits of the airline and bankruptcy aspects of the TWU contract. Maybe need some new faces in the negotiations on both sides. Seemed like scope was the big issue mentioned. Isom said they will get back to the table, so we'll see.

But since the association dose not sign there updates we don’t know who is in the room now, but I agree we need new negotiators. The company needs to get rid of glass and get people in there who can make a deal. And sito needs to go back to his board at united airlines . The union needs to drop its iampf the company needs to work on insurance the 7th week of vac. Better 401k etc.

I disagree, this was an obvious setup by Samuelson to yell at, get his talking points out, try to embarrass and then walk out with members in a show of unity. We aren’t 1950s longshoremen, who can be replaced with just anyone.
cant really refute what you are saying but I wouldnt be surprised if the video was sent to the judge which is 100% certain to order an injunction and caution Mr Samuels about rhetoric that can be code for inciting members.
Whatever the case, Isom had to correct him twice that we only made $3 billion, which really is not alot when you look at the thin profit margin.
Does Samuels really think we made $300 billion?

Samuelson seems to think we are an uneducated work group, based on the fact that he tried to make having an Ivy League education is a negative along with being able to articulate a sentence.

501 president should have memorized his question to make it sound like he is actually concerned with that subject. Sounds more organic, less some guy being told what to ask.

Seems like the union (I say union (TWU) because we didn’t hear from IAM side to make it an association) is using half facts and truths to embarrass AA. I wonder how much sympathy we would get if it was known how much we are being offered.

We have no voice in any of this until we get a vote.
It’s time to get this whole thing on the table good and bad parts and let’s us vote until then all of this back and forth is useless.
Vote now should be what we want not shut it down

The TWU launched the first stages of its latest campaign, fighting for the safety of aviation workers and the flying public.

The International created a committee consisting of members from the Air and Transit, Universities, Utilities and Services Divisions, along with industry experts. As usual, the TWU is leading the charge with our Toxic Cabin Air campaign, calling on the FAA to monitor cabin air for toxic fumes.

I would agree with this statement if the AFL CIO and all union heads were there on the same page, but I think it’s a stretch when the company that outsources the least is made the evil doer.
