Even with their “clout” the IAM hasn’t prevailed against the major carriers, board seat or not. Any gains they have achieved were from a rising industry tide and were proceeded by negotiations by the TWU, IBT, AFA-CWA and ALPA (pilots get paid first, perhaps not diplomatic to say but every other workgroup makes gains after the pilots have been taken care of). Even with the IAM’s “clout” on the UCH board UA still prevailed getting the 2013 agreement that would have whittled scope down to just seven stations indefinitely for TA 1. It was only because of Tim’s efforts educating them it didn’t ratify.

TA 2 had minor incremental gains and was also an abomination of an agreement, so much so that it was the new UA CEO who wanted to open it early to improve morale.

Since they’ve proven they’re willing to go down to UGE and McGee level wages (performing work that perhaps not immediately before but at one time in both cases was performed by bonafide mainline IAM members) how do they expect that to not come in for mainline AS and UA negotiations? What’s the point of having a job under the “union” banner if it’s at DGS kr ATS type terms? Sure you have the ~20 page CBA rife with “according to company policy” and “at the discretion of management” language but in practice it’s just like TWU 580 at HP.

The IAM know any work that isn’t performed by UA ramp/PCE or AS ramp[AK state only]/COPS is work they can get on the low wage scale and still collect dues.

Actually if the IAMPF loses its IAM LUS Members it doesn’t lose anything at all since those Members would be frozen on payouts for the time they had in only, and the funds administrators would make the actuarial changes to reflect that in the next years funding level report.

The simplicity is that you guys just want at least a fair value in exchange for any 401k contribution and or match if it’s to be considered. Which is completely understandable.

Racer please understand that we have a lot of people unfortunately on the TWU side who see the Boogeyman under every bed and in every closet.
