American Airlines and Labor Negotiations

Believe they recalled everyone but are using the cross-utilization agreement to fill in the rest.

There about 26 TWU FSC in PHX.

Maybe Management figured they were fulfilling their obligation to recall LAA FSCs furloughs wanting to return back to PHX, but I am sure some of those recalls would prefer to be full-time and hire off the street to fill-in the additional 4-5 gates.

Absolutely.

please advise us exactly what synergies the company has left to get other than a very tiny payroll issue, catering, lavs, lus health, deicing? All other synergies have been realized.

from jan.'18 conference call:

Dan McKenzie -- Buckingham Research -- Analyst

Got it. More on the cost side? More on the revenue side? If can you just help us understand.

Maya Leibman -- Chief Information Officer

Yes. On the revenue side, we have a lot of fantastic opportunities that we're working with Don Casey's group on. On the cost side, we have opportunities to really streamline our processes and the product that we provide. And a lot of it is really just better customer experience.

And we're very focused on providing things to our customers that really make the whole experience with American better.

Don Casey -- Senior Vice President of Revenue Management

Yes. And Dan, I would say, for us to get the $3.9 billion worth of initiatives that we're talking about, this work will help us bring it in quicker and do what we need to do. Some of that is required, a lot of IT help to get us done. We can't get there without the IT group helping us get through this.

And what they're doing is really helping us get through it quicker and figuring out ways to bring things to the market quicker on both the revenue and the cost side.

The NMB won't suggest the Company needs to "open up their profits" as it relates to profit sharing.

The NMB process for negotiations can force an outcome on Labor and/or the Company. It is debatable who would end up on the losing end of that but having an outside source dictate what we end up with is not in our best interest, whether it is by Arbitration, a PEB or Congress imposing a JCBA.

why is that? because the company can moan and groan to the mediator about dl ready reserve and/or ua pt numbers?

ok...

and the assoc. wouldn't moan and groan about aa's PS compared to dl's profit sharing or that ua works it's RJs in it's hubs?

so, it either works both ways or it doesn't work at all.

the company's stingy PS formula is something that they don't want touched.

Absolutely, could happen...nothing like giving an opinion (mine) and being totally wrong and it benefits me greatly.
Weaasles has problems thinking people he disagree's with has ulterior motives.

i'm thinking the company (top level execs) has too much to lose with major labor strife (thank you, tom hanks, AMT - American Movie Top banana )...only further putting downward pressure on the flopping stock.

these captains of the airline industry have spent over $11 billion on buy-backs & dividends since the merger and the stock is woefully undervalued. rightly or wrongly, the board has to notice this epic failure.

these same captains of the airline industry have failed (to be fair, they aren't alone) to take the initiative and play jet fuel where quarterly income surprises would have been in the hundreds of millions.

flop, flop. the BOD isn't noticing? so, now, major labor strife with the company being hideously stingy after bragging to no end about profits?

in other words, i don't believe we will get to a stalemate with a marriage counselor.

dont blame him, he knows that very few support Alex garcias position to guarantee lus health care to laa. i mean, i guess people support that but nyer is right by saying it has almost zero chance.

does PJ know this about NYer?

LAA metal.

Cross-utilization doesn't have any bearing in staffing as a TWU city.

It may be improbable, but the language is there so it is a possibility if for nothing else but to gain leverage in getting a vote.

It's easy for us to decide it won't happen but it is a different scenario, with consequences, for those that may have to make a decision if this scenario plays out.
if im in one of those stations then i dont want to believe some of the few remaining posters here saying that the union holds all the cards. its goin to be announced.....then rescinded pending a jcba. im almost certain.

So, you wouldn't vote yourself out of a job but others you would. I hope you get what you deserve someday.

prez, is alex prepared to stick together with us if the company decides to whack 5 twu station? i gotta think twu members would want to "have a talk" with him if he still supports our stall.
Is Sito goin to flip like a pancake like he did at united if the company pushes him by offering the 70 work in phl to cwa piedmont?

We handle a bunch of 175s at LGA too so its more bodies than you mention
i hate to say but this could affect 2,000 members when you at lga, bos, dca, pit, clt, phl. Maybe Prez has the accurate numbers of who all will be affected.
Time to buckle down and call the company bluff.....which is sure to happen if we continue to stand

Hopefully, Sito learned from his United fiasco.

Pardon me for asking, but where to you obtain this information which is current? I know it must be especially difficult with the aircraft swaps on any given day between LAA and LUS metal, so simply looking at a given day and multiplying it out for the year would be suspect, not to mention, seasonal changes in flight schedules.
me thinks management has this info counted down to each flight. there may be a reason why tpa barely misses the cutoff.

Update

Why do I say this is a cost negative or neutral offer from the company? I mean, the company is offering 24 cents an hour, shift differential of 61 cents or so, Crew Chief pay up to $2.20, another week of vacation, 10 holidays, 10 sick days and up to 9% 401k. Am I high or something? No!!

The company wants to cut a minimum of 17% of association jobs, cut pension payments to a third of association members which range from 5.5% to 11.3% depending on where the employee is on the wage scale, increase insurance costs dramatically to a third of the association members and they want the ability to have many more part time employees which could replace hundreds if not thousands of full time jobs with part time jobs.

P. Rez
all of us know its a crap offer. people love voting yes on them though. Counting on you to make sure Sito doesnt bring this out for a vote when the goin gets tough.

is the 17% lost work exclusive to the fleet offer or is that basically mx? all ive seen is catering, lavs, and deicing.

i'm not trying to run a union and i know that the majority of those cuts are AMT, o/h.

and where are we losing lavs?
