We should have our own union, why should my dues money go to a candidate I don't support or go to buying a private jet for union bigwigs. The pilots have their own union ,makes sense to me
Believe me if a union thought they would lose dues money they would be a lot less likely to agree to outsourcing

Just wanted to say thanks to the TWU and IAM officials for planning to show up at the quarterly meeting tomorrow. I had complained about some of them not showing up at these meetings and the town halls. It will be good to see them there together. Thank you and good luck.

Tim does the Grand Lodge (and District) pension have a surviving spouse benefit?

Josh
the spouse gets the full benefit for the Grand Lodge pension, which is 120% funded and fantastic. paid for by us to our agcs who have up to 4 retirements.
The iamnpf cuts benefits enuf to devastate a survivingspouse so i recomment members not to check the spousal offset. Our members are mindless about the iam pension.

best post of the day. the problem is that many wo are pollyannas are leftist and serve the labor organization and Mr Man instead of the masses. so sad.

piots and stews have their own. ramp should as well but rampers pretty much want Big Brother and a Paternal union.
ROPA was the best ramp union. it led the industry and was the southwest ramp union. Squid was solid but the eboard voted to merge with the twu.

Timber, stock is down $2 plus dollars on fuel price fears...

they announced a new $2 billion stock repurchase program that will end in 2020.

if they would have spent $2 billion on hedging fuel last spring, the stock would be up x-amount with the massive earnings surprise.

i saw the southwest had a .05 cents a gallon favorable settlement on jet fuel. if aa saved .05 cents a gallon on the 1 billion gallons of jet fuel burned in the 1st quarter, that's $50 million more in the 1st quarter. over .10 cents a share surprise.

southwest also put aside $102 million in profit sharing from the 1st quarter. the 'leap of faith' company accrued $29 million. i believe dl put aside $180 million from it's 1st quarter.

are these guys flopping on all fronts?

Tim will the company's forcast have any effect on negotiaions?

Pathetic.

I looked at the 5500 a while back need to take another look. What’s the average payout? Seems many people at the GL make mid-six figures, AGCs are closer to $100k not sure about districts outside Airlines.

all districts have morons making over $150,000.
The new 5500 is so so sad but our agcs refuse to educate members on it or our agcs risk the wrath of sito and they wont be able to milk free health care and 4 retirement plans. Sad.

i dont think it will have much affect but with the present scaleback in the industry, the margin will become razor thin with the risk of further eliminations.
my opinion is in the minority but admittedly it could prove catostrophic to certain peeps but there is always sacrifice when you fight. hopefully, those 5 twu stations stay open or our negotiators will most likely be blamed by twu rank and file.
lets hope alex continues his beta stance to Sito.

Parker himself stated American Airlines WILL NEVER LOSE MONEY AGAIN. Well Parker stick to ur wordn give the employees Industry Leading contracts now. Now w oil rising does the Assoc still have leverage? I have feeling parker gonna try drag it out n then God Forbid if oil is higher he say Cant afford to give industry contracts.

I was being sarcastic. With the record profits the company is currently enjoying, fuel undoubtedly is a real cost that will hit profits. The longer negotiations drag on, the greater the chance of profits being reduced. Hence the lesser chance we get what we want. We all believe the company can afford to give us a truly industry leading contract because of record profits, but keep in mind, be it an increase in jet fuel prices, a recession, a war, or any other major event, the union will find it harder and harder to use record profits as an argument for a good contract.
I am NOT saying we should settle for a concessionary deal, just pointing out that record profits are not permanent no matter what ANYONE says.
