The stock buy back seems strange to me. They have already bought back around 400 million shares. They didn't pay down the debt, and they just bought more 787s. Now they want to continue share buy backs? They could have hedged at around 30 $ a barrel, or paid down debt. I don't have much confidence in this mgmt group. I don't see how their ideas help the company or employees.they announced a new $2 billion stock repurchase program that will end in 2020.
if they would have spent $2 billion on hedging fuel last spring, the stock would be up x-amount with the massive earnings surprise.
i saw the southwest had a .05 cents a gallon favorable settlement on jet fuel. if aa saved .05 cents a gallon on the 1 billion gallons of jet fuel burned in the 1st quarter, that's $50 million more in the 1st quarter. over .10 cents a share surprise.
southwest also put aside $102 million in profit sharing from the 1st quarter. the 'leap of faith' company accrued $29 million. i believe dl put aside $180 million from it's 1st quarter.
are these guys flopping on all fronts?
I read a article a couple of months ago about share buyback and it specifically stated that it helps both the management and shareholders and does nothing for the employee's. I guess that why Parker does it then he turns around and sells shares to the tune of $19 million before taxes. The stock buy back seems strange to me. Either they're really confident the airline will do well in the future ot they're really stupid. We shall seeThe stock buy back seems strange to me. Well, all those things I stated were fact. I'm not sure about blatant or not.Think he would be that blatant?
Is the BOD in on it?Well, all those things I stated were fact. I'm not sure about blatant or not.
In on what? Don't know what you are asking. Is the BOD in on it?
My thoughts exactly.I wonder if Parker’s mention of Section wasn’t intentional, and designed as a sort of pressure test, to see how the MC (and masses) will react?
I was kidding, parkers money grabI think I'm less trusting of the Association than I am of Parker right now
