American Airlines and Labor Negotiations

the twu pretty much got conned. Unless twu members force a vote for another union, their majority 70% is meaningless. Time for twu members to plan for several years of stall.
Lets just say the IAM had a game plan going in, the TWU, not so much. Who is shocked, they didn't have one once we won the equity case, nor did they have one that allowed us to receive the prefund match. Pretty sad track record of late. Thanks Mike Mayes and all the International SFF (six figure folks)

AANOTOK,

That's misplaced anger you have there. It's the company offering a bs contract that's put us in this situation. If we would have fought for representation, either the the TWU or IAM would be in the same position, with the company pitting the two groups against each other with this same bs proposal.

Prez...

What's wrong with you? Did you not know that this entire forum is about haw bad the unions are? Did you not realize you would be much better off without them?
Have you not been reading here? Did you not hear what the banker said? Have not realized that the Company is being hindered by these EVIL labor groups?...

Wake the F-UP up man... Josh is right... ditch all representation NOW!! Vote for the National Right to Work Act -- It's your only hope!

Did Thomas work for Piedmont?....
In addition, you would not know who delivered "red x's" unless you were the recipiant... hmmmm...

I say who cares. "Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's"
I do not believe you can say: "Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's" unless you can can Act Like Gary Cooper in SGT York?

We all know who Piedmont is. Believe me. But his opinion is meritless. I don't know anyone saying that we should abolish representation. What I do read and hear is how Sito is anti union/management shill, but at least he pimped the TWU which didn't know they were getting pimped. I suppose one could say that Alex knew and took money under the table in a deal to hose his TWU peeps, or that he has a fancy for $1,300 bottles of wine, but I support Alex. He is more IAM than I am and as long as he doesn't flip like a pancake on promising LAA our current health care.....we good!

Kicking the Can. Let's do it! And I'm sure Lehive cut the deal and gave some a stipend for hush money.

All of us better wake up. The company is doing the same thing NWA did to break the unions and or reduce the headcount by outsourcing. The difference is AA will not be using Scabs. They have an alternate work force already in place and it's growing day by day. It's legal and some stations work side by side with them. Let me spell it out and do your research. "ENVOY"
Don't think for one minute they won't slowly move into positions on the property. Ramp, cabin service, facilities and aircraft maintenance. That's on the TWU and IAM side. They can push passenger services out the door at smaller stations and move on up. Don't believe me? That's your choice but explain why it's taken this long to get a JCBA?
The association says the company wants more open language on job security and outsourcing. It may be a while if Envoy moves into our positions but if we don't pay attention now then kiss our jobs good buy. Class 2 stations first and then who knows from there.

It has been one failure after another. It just leaves you shaking your head wondering how did it get to this point. The negative sentiment I see at work for the TWU and the Association is severe. It's almost like what can go wrong next.

Update

I believe Doug stated the company proposal cost the company 100's of millions, which included the money they already gave us. What he failed to disclose is that with the minimum of 5000 jobs they want to outsource, that saves them 200-300 million per year. He also failed to disclose that the removal of our pension and insurance will save them millions too.

P. Rez as a district official you get a very cushy union pension, right? Have you and the NC considered negotiating that on behalf of the membership?

As a union leader why should you be extended terms well beyond and above what the people who pay your salary can realistically expect to achieve through bargaining?

Isn’t the mantra “YOU are the union”? If so, shouldn’t your compensation and perks closely match the CBA your members are subject to?

They can claim "consistency" though...

That was predictable.

The lack of information and the improper expectations has raised the frustration levels The official communications have been bad since the beginning, which has lead to too much speculation

And are you going to try to change that? I hope that you will.

I will count the TWU and the IAM finally making a public appearance together last week as progress. Maybe the association can try to involve Parker more directly? The lack of a deal seems to bother him more than some of the others. I could be wrong but some of the other execs don't sound at all bothered. I am not saying the company deal is good. No. I support the association and would vote no on the current company proposal. I am saying maybe try to go straight to the top and get him in a session. I don't know if that is possible or would happen but maybe worth a try?
