American Airlines and Labor Negotiations

Been working pretty well for DL, UA, JB, SW, UPS, and FDX

So if I had to check a box for who is and who isn’t ok with shrinking the work, I would have to put you in the affirmative column?

Would you also go along with discontinuing the work for Facilities and Automotive too?

They are a part of your Class and Craft.

Relax. The reality is that planes are not dropping out of the sky due to outsourcing. Keeping jobs within the company and the US in general should be the paramount argument against outsourcing. The union wants to make it about safety and they will lose that argument until planes fall out of the sky like rain drops.

As far as me being willing to outsource other jobs....no I do not wish to see ANY current employee lose his/her job.
But...I know you abhor me bringing up past history, but for literally decades, the TWU was more than happy to shrink mechanics' work and shift it over to fleet and even automotive. And we had to suck it up with defenders like yourself who believe we should ONLY have wrenches in our hand working aircraft because of our inflated salaries.
What makes these negotiations more serious is that EVERY TWU job is ont the line, not just aircraft maintenance.
I would be willing to bet that if aircraft maintenance outsourcing were the one and only issue in negotiations, the uproar would be quite muted.

The only thing missing is the tin foil hat!

One thing about Gary Peterson's update is the point that the company took our compensation in a matter of weeks back those 15 or so years ago. They say the second quarter earnings were not up to snuff. Reality is they earned more in the 2nd qtr than they used to in a couple of years. I know they want to be competitive with the other carriers but all the jobs we hear they want is absurd. It's a difficult negotiation but this seems to be a standoff. Maybe both sides needs some fresh people in the negotiations. The remarks about Isom seem a little off base. He may just be doing Parker's bidding. Things are getting strange.

Whoa whoa whoa there my wrench turning friend. While I admit that I would prefer to have other work besides just ripping my shoulders out of my sockets, there is a lot of “other” work being performed on these Aircraft that probably should be yours.

Then again I guess the question can be asked. Should an Auto Mechanic be the guy to pump your gas and wipe your windows as well?

No “current” employee is going to lose their job. I do believe the Company on that one. But they also do want to attrition “a lot” of us out over the long term “The Long Game” Do you now want to be one of those old farts that gives the Company that ability like the former Generation did? (No recrimination, just a question)

Your last line is factually innacurate. The TWU has been paying way more attention to you guys cause we’re unsellable to the general public. Can’t sell $65,000 Baggage schlubs to College grads making less I’m afraid (And honest about)

Plus Metal you DO bring in a HELL of a lot more in dues than I do. I’m small potatoes compared to you. (And fine with that also)

BTW Metal if you’ve been reading. IAM Sito is an AMT and according to “The Kook” if you believe him he hates us Baggage Handlers and has destroyed the Careers of our counterparts at UAL and is planning on hitting us with the same ax.

So don’t be scared of the Bus Driver or my former MIA Fleet Prez since you got Sito standing point guard for team wrench. Lol.

I

im collecting evidence on Mr Peterson, a 3 time management flunky, who ratted out his own brothers in a deal against amfa.

One thing is sure, with him and the beta submissive Alex Garcia, it looks like the iam could merge with the twu.
I doubt Sidney Jimenez would be able to tie in with twu local 100 so it looks like twu members are just as screwed as iam members.

either bring in a new union or stop paying the full dues.

Al, weez said on one of the groups that Peterson may be right about the Isom conspiracy. So, im not sure if weezles prior health issues have clouded his mental capabilities or if he has already been placed on payroll. He could cut in line if he is a mason though since the secret club is heavily involved in iam affairs.

tim, help is available for you at work. All you have to do is ask.

This thread has pretty much turned into a vast wasteland

Intl President Samuelsen congratulates Spirit Air CSAs, who voted 82% to join the TWU. "This is ultimate act of democracy in the workplace. They are on the path to take control of their future, and the future of their coworkers. Welcome to the TWU!"

nobody talks to him in mia as he is known as an iam and management loyalist. Turning people into management is anti union.

Wait, what?! Dave’s turning people in? Say it ain’t so!

Ob

Obviously you can't put the kids in charge of the candy but to put a 22 year old manager in charge of 50 year old men doing the work before he was born is a waste of company money.

It’s awkward at best.

No man; it’s a riot!

Let management do their own dirty work.

Both Birds have the same feathers.

On another note it was an interesting day. My Crew and I had to put both our Powerstow and our Huff out of service for apparent Transmission problems today.

Can’t recall that ever happening before?

Well the Tim Nelson Cornfield is beginning to get very crowded I see, lol.

Tim how the hell could you pick a fight with Jimmy Miller? The guy is a walking Teddy Bear of nice.

His ramp nickname is Joe Sweetpea.
