Relax. The reality is that planes are not dropping out of the sky due to outsourcing. Keeping jobs within the company and the US in general should be the paramount argument against outsourcing. The union wants to make it about safety and they will lose that argument until planes fall out of the sky like rain drops.
As far as me being willing to outsource other jobs....no I do not wish to see ANY current employee lose his/her job.
But...I know you abhor me bringing up past history, but for literally decades, the TWU was more than happy to shrink mechanics' work and shift it over to fleet and even automotive. And we had to suck it up with defenders like yourself who believe we should ONLY have wrenches in our hand working aircraft because of our inflated salaries.
What makes these negotiations more serious is that EVERY TWU job is ont the line, not just aircraft maintenance.
I would be willing to bet that if aircraft maintenance outsourcing were the one and only issue in negotiations, the uproar would be quite muted.
