American Airlines and Labor Negotiations

I do accept it. There is nothing I can do about it.All I know when we were Teamsters, it did not take over 6 years to get a contract. We all moved up. Well AMFA had a Teamsters contract , and did extensions and LOAs. The problem is when everyone went bankrupt, we did not , so we had more perks because SWA made money. So when you have mechanics making over $100,000 a year it takes longer to move higher. So here we are.
I wonder why it took TWO Teamsters around 5 years to hammer out a contract at UA/CO.
Whatever happened to strength in numbers?
Two heads better than one?
I guess when the Teamsters take a long time negotiating, it is because the company refuses to budge.
But when AMFA takes a long time, it is squarely the fault of the union.

So I guess fleet service is going to negotiate for aircraft maintenance. I'll just wait for the official release from the Association to this change.
Wait so you are say that the mx neg committee is made up of fleet guys? Sorry I have trouble believing that could you kindly provide a link showing that?

Let's see United Teamsters 5 years, successful ratified contract , members move up. Southwest AMFA over 6 years no successful ratified contract, members losing out! So pretty much rest my case.

Books have been know to be cooked!

There are plenty of “people” in Unions (And life) who take advantage of situations/ or in the case of Unions, the perks.

But it’s sad how fast an “accusation” can fly on here because many of you (HATE) the Acronym.

I guess AMFA and AMP (If that got running) are just loaded to bear with White robes, Halo’s and Wings? Pfft.

(Without evidence, you got no case and no arrests)

i agree about the assoc. as a dysfunctional concept and a bizarre surrender by the twu to the iam. similar to the u.s. surrendering to japan in 1945.

assoc. or just twu or iam, you wouldn't be happy unless fleet and gse/fm are decoupled from AMT? that's how i take it.

even if that happened, i don't see how a 'amt only' union will compel the company to do this for you or that for you. corporate america laughs at unions after emasculating them through the decades.

now, if you had the major league baseball union in the room with you...chances are you'd get some good stuff. free buffets every day, no need to bring a lunch.

i can understand giving it a shot and trying. the theory that fleet holds you guys back monetarily only holds credence for me if aa competed with spirit and frontier. we don't, we compete with delta and united. they won't have an issue paying you, if they can eliminate x-amount of your o/h and component work?
I agree that the Association has been dysfunctional from the beginning. Especially with no vote. I would guess the AMT people are just disgusted, and having their own craft union would make them feel better about things being more in their own hands. The last few years with AA making tons of $ has been wasted away it seems as far as getting a deal. Can't blame people for wanting a serious change in how things are done. As for mgmt, I do not feel good about how they are doing things.

Read my post again. Pay extra attention to the last part. Don't assume what I said was true. I heard there was a shuffling of negotiators once we start mediation.

Maybe this can shed some light on what is happening at UAL under the IBT.

I hope so,going with the same people would be ridiculous..

So they get a pass for 5 years and not 6?
and the teamsters represented both carriers?
I REST MY CASE!

I merely stated books have been known to be cooked. Didn't direct that at the beloved TWU.
After all they would NEVER do anything unethical.

Yes they are going to shuffle. The EC has decided just for kicks and as a big goof those reps who are AMT’s will take over the Fleet talks and those versed in Fleet issues will take over finishing up your Scope.

Yep they’re going to have one jolly old knee slapper of a time playing pin the tail on the Donkey.

What are you kidding? I’m sure I can write a bestseller about what some of the unethical “people” in the TWU have done since Michael Quill started it. And that goes for any other long term Union as well. A to Z.
