American Airlines and Labor Negotiations

Good thing they do not represent fleet service at American Airlines. Fleet would be outsourced without a vote. Similar to what the Association did to all of us at AA.

The TWU/IAM Association outsourced you without a vote?

Besides it’s “The Company” who does the outsourcing and if you haven’t been paying attention they want to shrink a whole ton of your work. And along with that goes headcount.

It’s all about economics.

How’s AMP doing Metal? It’s such a secret Union that even the guys who started it forgot where they put it.

(One joke to another)
Too bad we don’t have the teamsters. They would’ve bought the contract on our behalf by now!

Let's see United Teamsters 5 years, successful ratified contract , members move up. Southwest AMFA over 6 years no successful ratified contract, members losing out! So pretty much rest my case.
At least you can say The IBT has another successful contract at UPS!

It don’t matter anyway when the economy tanked and aa claimed financial ruins they got in two to three weeks concessions more then United are delta took from there employees in bk. Then in 12vthey went in the sham bk they even forgot to sell the castle before the judge and creditors found it. So the twu gave away the store and no SnapBack. But the clowns in the association in good times can’t even get us a contract because of Sitos greed for the iampf. He doesn’t care now about the lower insurance if it’s lost are not he does not face re election like he did. He gets his pay and insurance regardless. He cares about the iampf because that’s money to the iam. If he loses us insurance it’s nothing out of his pocket.

you're talking about 2003 and 2011 in the same tense and same scenario(s)?

you're saying that if aa was ok with all 30,000 assoc. members on lus/iam insurance, the exec. committee wouldn't have been happy and not brought it out to vote because it's really about the iam pension?

if word leaked out that that was the case, i'd think the exec. committee would be finished as soon as possible, along with everyone else in exec. positions. maybe the company would want us to know that?

Well I’m not a fan of the maneuver myself and feel let the majority of those who bothered to vote (meaning they cared) count as the decider but they do have it written in their Constitution that this is how it would go if people were apathetic.

And BTW top paid Drivers make about $80,000 per year plus benefits. Probably why 60% didn’t care to vote?

Doesn’t the TWU international own the contract? Could they also have ratified a contract under certain conditions?

That's what the federal judge ruled in 2003 when we took the ATD International to court. Local 562 vs TWU INTERNATIONAL.
Judge ruled the International has sole ownership of all CBA'S.

From what I’ve heard or believe yes they can ratify a Contract defying a vote? Even though yes they have had revotes in our careers with a few small tweaks added I don’t think they have ever gone the Nuclear option.

We already obviously know they can make unilateral changes since the wage increases of 2016 along with Cross Utilization and pay scale lengths were done without a vote too.

BTW Metal since you guys always say you want to compare yourselves to UPS and FedEx, I think Fleet should compare ourselves to UPS Drivers? Besides the CDL (Not difficult to get) these drivers are unskilled (OJT) Labor just like my Group.

Yea. And people still say that if we still had the teamsters we would have a contract within the first 3 years. LMAO!
Of course we would. With everything farmed out in scope as that t was the #1 item the company was after for over 4 years of nego. Teamsters would have endorsed it and forced it to pass just like they just did over at UPS with the package handlers. So sad.
Here's what the teamsters just slammed down the throats of the package handlers evn though "THE MAJORITY VOTED NO!!!" the crooked teamsters strike again. Pathetic I tell you...

UPS Union Ratifies Labor Deal Even Though Members Turned It ...
That's because the Teamsters have always had that rule in their constitution they can over ride it, if they feel it is in the best interest of their members. Just like AMFA at Northwest never allowed the members to vote on Northwest best and final offer, before the strike. There is not really much difference in unions anymore. It's a business, just like American or SWA wants to contract stuff out to save money.

You sound a lot like:
Bobby "lower your expectations" gless

I’ve never met or spoken to the man. But the issue is funny to notice how I never read anyone from LGA, JFK, PHL, EWR, DCA, BOS, ORD, MIA, LAX, SAN, SFO or other high cost of living areas argue against the point.

But DFW and TUL are always more than ready to sound the battle cry aren’t they “DFW”gen?
