American Airlines and Labor Negotiations

I think the Field walk that Tom Regan, Bill Wilson and Gil Simmons took with our Local 568 President and Vice President went a long way towards some of our Members understanding just that.

I’m hoping more of these types of TWU/IAM walks take place in locations such as DFW, CLT, ORD, PHL, LAX and PHX.

I can guarantee they would go a long way in bridging any divides between the groups.
so 6 bullchiters is better than 3?
Look, I got other things goin on right now that have me swamped but if the bullchitters are still talking chit this time next year, they will have some other things piled up on them.

Actually the company would put us on back burner, as the pilots and FAs are gearing up for negotiations. They just wouldn’t be available to mediated talks because the union publicly stated their not budgeing. The law is on companies side.

I agree membership should see exactly what’s being offered in writing, because frankly I have a hard time trusting either side especially the union.
other than weez and a few others that the handlers control, most wanna see the offer and vote accordingly.
By next year, the issue will be forced, with the association or with a new union.

I’ll say this over and over for the next 10 years till I retire then.

American Airlines put your supposed full proposal out on Jetnet/Workbrain so we can all have a look at it.

You have no better tool and have shown in the past that you have no qualms at releasing offers directly to the Membership.

So when do we see it?

Goodbye again. You’re like the guest who showed up that never leaves even though he keeps saying he has to.

I agree. The sooner we get you rotating days off there in LGA, the better we will all be.
weez, if you had rotating days off, that might cut into your workouts. I mean your whole schedule will be thrown off.
I love pbi. Pretty sweet place. I gotta go back to doing my videos but i gotta get some color and lose a few pounds in front of the camera. You have had advantages cuz you been down here so long.

You see. You’re still here.

Tim youre right Samuelsen is in over his head is there a way he can go to comunication school of get a voice coach?

I would be very interested an Association sanctioned POLL that was strictly controlled and for voting members ONLY (i.e. phone in with an individual u name/pin) after an union education period to see where we stand as a group.
Just sayin' !

Actually at some point I don’t think this would be a bad idea at all.

What we want as far as Negotiations go polls like the one we took years ago eventually become dated once we reach the reality of the point we find ourselves at now.

I think a poll on what the Company has offered as far as particularly Scope and other remaining issues still open and what the Membership wants to do next would put them squarely in the Drivers seat of what they want to do.

AND it would leave no excuses in the future if there were any buyers remorse they wouldn’t be able to blame the Union Leaders who gave them exactly what they wanted.

Tim.these negotiators have to swallow their pride and ask for your advice if they are really serious about getting us a contract

They wont swallow their egos and ask me or hire other experts. The only thing that matters now is getting employee consent.
That isnt going to happen with these dummies, so we will have to remove the association next spring.

Bin Stretcher I have zero problem with you jumping in any time you like. And you’re 100% right about the unknown. I absolutely don’t want any of our Negotiators to accept anything until nothing is ambiguous. The Company wants the flexibility of having ambiguous language where they can make changes over time as they see fit.

Now your comment though about how “bad” we’ve had it the last few years seriously made me laugh out loud. My Gross Pay on my W2 was $69,616.28. I signed up for zero OT, and worked zero swaps. I even took a CS off here and there (Not much) Basically I work 40 hours per week and minus a few Mando Holdovers and the PS Check I grossed $70k.

Now yea currently you’re making a couple of bucks more than me but I don’t think I’m exactly starving over here. And don’t let any TOS Clerk or Mechanic try to kid you otherwise.

Sure, we all want a Contract and to get off this Roller Coaster. But we’re not exactly puking all over ourselves on the ride.

Do you have a figure or estimate on what the lowest point would be where you would quit saying "Well, you guys still have it pretty good now, don't you?"

When the IAM guys lose their pension, health care costs go up significantly etc. etc, will you continue your company mantra of "You guys are still doing pretty good, aren't you?"

When is enough, enough?

I did a decade standing on my head making only $21.00 per hour. Even moved to MIA making the same rate. Now to be fair you’re asking me that question making almost 50% more than that?

But I think I only start going on that line when the woe is me talk just gets a little too Shakespearean for my tastes.

But I do have a figure. It just isn’t a monetary figure alone.

When the IAM guys lose their pension, health care costs go up significantly etc. etc, will you continue your company mantra of "You guys are still doing pretty good, aren't you?"

The IAM guys lost their Pension way before we did. I’m talking about their Company DBP not the IAMPF.

BTW Rogallo might surprise you to know that the IAM knows they’re Medical costs are going to go up. They just believe it doesn’t have to go all the way up to where we are right now which I agree with.

But anyway I’m sorry you are right that it does come across as if I’m spewing out a Company mantra.

Like I said in all honesty it’s just hard to go along for the ride when any of us are trying to make it sound like we’re eating out of dumpsters and sleeping on cardboard.

Getting emotional and saying enough is enough isn’t going to do anything. And our Union is doing something. You’re just ignoring and discounting it.

So I don’t really know what YOU want actually?
