Through DFW, American’s customers will have one-stop service from Haneda to important international business hubs such as London, Paris, Madrid and Frankfurt in Europe
Where would you suggest? ORD, perhaps? If Japan Airlines or All Nippon have no non-stop to HND from ORD, there must be a reason. A brief browse of Travelocity shows that ORD to HND on any airline requires at least one stop (and change of planes)--either SFO, LAX, or JFK . That does not suggest much O&D traffic that we could capture with a non-stop. I remember reading somewhere that over 20% of all potential customers for U.S to Tokyo comes out of the immediate LAX area. One thing we don't want or need are routes established for "the glory of being the only".jcw said:Will the airlines be able to keep the evening slots? No, the four current overnight awards and slots will be replaced by five new daytime awards plus one new overnight award, for a total of six flights. That will happen about one year from now, in time for the 2017 summer season.jcw said:Will the airlines be able to keep the evening slots? Currently, the Japanese carriers have two flights each, and they are restricted to the same overnight hours as the US airlines.jimntx said:Where would you suggest? ORD, perhaps? As far as SFO or JFK to HND, not only is there competition on those routes, but we have codeshare agreements and/or joint venture agreements with airlines that serve those airports where we get a cut of the action without actually having to put metal in the air.
Let's not forget that one of the main problems with evening arrivals into HND is (IIRC) lack of transportation from the airport into the city at the arrival times we were given. They aren't really "evening" arrivals, they are middle of the night arrivals--0100, 0200 and the like.
