DALLAS (AP) -- American Airlines is turning up the heat on its workers, saying it doesn't have much time to win cost-saving concessions from labor unions.

American said Friday night it needs those deals in place in "a matter of weeks."

I guess 9 years is not enough time to figure it out! It always comes down to hurry up and get it done!

Come get them...
I agree!
After all, the union really doesn't have anything in their arsenal that will make it any better. Let them fight it out in court. We're paying for all those lawyers on retainer anyway!! I would like to see the TWU go bankrupt!

Come get them? Beware of those playing one craft against another....

In other words HURRY UP JIMMY I need to see what to offer the other labor groups!!

2ndGENAMT understands I believe. While fighting like hell and complying with confidentiality clause that the union was made to sign, you the owner of your contract and the payer of dues, have no idea what is going on. Once the allowable money is divided, each work group will be told the parameters of the contract for all of the groups. There will be no separate negotiations forTitle I. It will be Jim Little ensuring that every group is compensated based on a social structure and not on their skill. The Dispatchers might see a separate contract. What will be different from the existing contact book? The separation of pay skills for those that are topped out.

If the compAAny/union successfully barters wages for jobs along with the removal of station and system protection they will have contrived the perfect storm for M&R and their savings will go well beyond the 20% margin over the life of a 6 year deal. Failing to outsource up to 40%, which I seriously doubt can be accomplished any time soon, requires the retention of many of the mechanics on hand until well into the fleet renewal campaign. The results could be wage reductions/modified work rules with timely and consistent layoffs for years to come. Anyone in their mid-40's with less than 20 years at AA would be fools to ride this one out.

They have not assigned a dollar value to any of the "Big ticket" items like the APA scope clause or the TWU ASM cap.Sure they've said they need them to go away but haven't intimated what they are worth.
