American Airlines Web site fails for second straight day, cause unknown

DALLAS (AP) -- For the second straight day, the American Airlines Web site went down on Friday, inconveniencing customers trying to book flights or check reservations.
American spokesman Billy Sanez said Friday's interruption started shortly after 3 p.m. EDT. The Web site was still unavailable at 4:40 p.m.

Sanez said an IT team was working on the problem and hoped to resolve it quickly. The cause was unknown, he said.

Maybe they need to spend a few $$$$ to lure some of the NWA folks once they are out of work with the merger. Oh Wait that would cut into Messers. Arpey's and Garton's bonus.....

AA doesn't have the swiftest I.T. folks in the contractor pool!

Mostly true, aside from the fact AA didn't have a lot of contractors to begin with, and most were let go when the management layoffs began (hard to argue a contractor staying put when you're letting full-timers go...)...

Only the US/CA site seems to have been affected.

Internationally, AA.Com sits on e-Retail (an Amadeus web engine), as opposed to the AA supported website. Supposedly, the 1A version stayed up and running....
