American Eagle aka Envoy to try one more time to negotiate.

There's some degree of logic behind what Eagle's doing here other than pitting union against union.

PSA has to invest in work to bring the CR9's onto their certificate, and having the CR7's is incremental to that. It doesn't make sense to have the same type/subtype at multiple carriers.

Embraer at Envoy, CRJ's at PSA. Simple. Same rationale that kept the Dash 8's segregated at only PSA.

Makes sense.

But they blew that out of the water with the PDT TA and the implied intention of building it into a two and possibly three type operation.

Envoy Air Flight Attendants Appalled At Management's Recent Announcement To Get Rid Of Nearly 50 Planes

September 05, 2014

Washington, DC – Flight Attendant leaders from Envoy Air, represented by the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA), issued the following statement today after AAG management announced plans to transfer Envoy’s fleet of 47 CRJ aircraft beginning Spring 2015:

“Rather than investing in the future of an already proven company, AAG management continues to exploit the regional industry through their ‘race to the bottom’ mentality.  It is a sad reality that AAG management continues to dismiss and disrespect the very people who make AAG successful.

“Envoy Air/legacy American Eagle has been the recipient of numerous Skytrax awards over the years. Our Flight Attendant ratings have always been above our mainline peers by a healthy margin. Management’s failure to recognize that the employees of Envoy Air have spent years building the American Eagle brand becomes even more appalling in light of the recent eagerness to sacrifice all that we have built for short term gain.

“We will continue to fight for Envoy Air Flight Attendants and push back against management’s attempts to destroy our jobs. Once again, we call on management to honor their commitments to Flight Attendants and all workers at Envoy and return our company to the best-in-class leader we always have been.”

Envoy Air Flight Attendants are part of the Association of Flight Attendants, the world’s largest Flight Attendant union. Focused 100 percent on Flight Attendant issues, AFA has been the leader in advancing the Flight Attendant profession for 69 years. Serving as the voice for Flight Attendants in the workplace, in the aviation industry, in the media and on Capitol Hill, AFA has transformed the Flight Attendant profession by raising wages, benefits and working conditions. Nearly 60,000 Flight Attendants come together to form AFA, part of the 700,000-member strong Communications Workers of America (CWA), AFL-CIO. Visit us at http://afaeagle.com/

PSA, Piedmont... can't keep all the wholly owned's straight without a scorecard.

The point is they're all proven companies by now, no? It's not like the company is outsourcing to Mesa.

Speaking of Mesa, does anyone know if USAiways still holds the 10% ownership stake Mesa????
AFAIK, Mesa is still privately held, so it's hard to tell if the stake was divested or not since YV's emergence from bankruptcy in 2011.

You mean the Mesa that's increasing flying in LAX and DFW?

Recently, ALPA pilots at Piedmont Airlines ratified a new agreement with 77 percent of the pilots voting in favor. Their new agreement is similar to the deal ratified by the PSA pilots last year and includes the cost structure the company demanded from us in return for aircraft and flow through to AA.
A video was released by ALPA National last week that drives home the message that the industry has a “pay shortage, not a pilot shortage”. You can view it here, and I encourage us all to watch it. The MEC believes it does not make sense to advocate and support an agreement that validates poor compensation by locking in an agreement for 10 years with no method of improving it.
What does this mean for us? AAG has indicated that PDT’s new agreement provides another avenue to operate the EMB 175s within the wholly owned family at a lower compensation model. We fully expect an announcement that AAG will commit those 175’s to Piedmont. Coupled with the announced movement of our CRJs to PSA, it’s easy to form a clear picture of AAG’s plans for our carrier. We haven’t been notified of displacements or downgrades as of yet, but we will advise you when we have.
