American Indians say kiss off!

Excellent point.."Fixer" !!!!!

Just on our Northern border(with Canada alone), tribes like the Mohawk in NY, the Chippewa(Ojibwe) in Minnesota, the Blackfeet, in Montana, had a Illegal boundry line drawn, slicing their homelands in HALF.

I know FACTUALLY that the FEDS(on both sides) frequently "break the BALLS" of Mohawks crossing the St. Lawerence river in upstate NY, as they try to go across to visit relatives !

Though the Casino would'nt have been my "retaliation of choice" for the Indians,.......there IS a kind of JUSTICE, for all the WHITE CHUMPS that go "to the cleaners" at the LEGAL, tribal casino's

I have a Native American question.

During my travels, I happened to be in Parker, Az. for a week. In a tiny Museum, I saw a display of artifacts of the local tribe.

I saw a doll I have never seen before and never seen outside the Parker, Az. Museum. It was called the Priest Killer God. It was a Native American God holding up the severed head of a Cathloc Priest.

Now, did some medicine man, or tribal cheif, or some consol get together and decide to artificially create a new God to make the act of killing priests an acceptible act? I know the Greeks named Gods after amoung others, behavior, such as the God of fertility and drunken revely, Dionisis.(My second AA Degree is in Theater, so not only do I have a passing knowledge of this, but an active intrest.

Now, like the Greeks, Native Americans propagated the belif that the actors talent of acting was in fact the performer becoming the God. It is not recorded as such, but I belive socioities elders knew this to be false, but allowed the masses to belive so. It made the masses more controllable. You see this today with 70 virgins and God laying down rules women must always be inferior and it is God,s will infidels must be wiped out or brought into line.

Did tribal elder attempt to propagate a new God amoung other tribes to unite them into casting off the invaders? Did the tribal members know this to be bunk, and decide not to participate, or did other tribal elders decide not to allow this new God to perform rites of violence directed at Priests? So many questions.

I intent to return to college at my working retirement. I intend to study Psychology and Antropology, amoung other subjects. i really like to know if this was an attempt as mass media manipulation of other tribes and an attempt at manipulating tribal elders of other tribes into compliance with a desired result, killing priests by this tiny tribe in Parker, Az.

Anybody have some input?

nq6v,

Yes, I have an input that "may" be relevant.

Since your a history buff, in your spare time I'd suggest that you do some background checking on a Belgian Priest name Pierre-Jean De Smet, unless your already familiar with him, and please get back to us, on this board.
My "amount" of knowledge is particularly that, of the Lakota/Dakota/Nakota people, who were/are "mislabeled" the Sioux !!

I'll await your return.

Thank you !

NHBB and ng6v,

Wasn't the Yowe incident -- and the Yowe Kachina -- created hundreds of years before Pierre-Jean De Smet?

I believe, though, that specific Kachina was created in response to individuals who were probably similar and as persistent as Smet... as an attempt to retain their independent religon and way of life.

BTW, the "Sioux" didn't use the Yowe Kachina right?

It very well may have been in retaliation for the treatment, and conduct of Native American Spiritual beliefs by the Catholic Church. Although Native American beliefs were tens of thousands of years older, the Catholic Church declared them to be "savages" (as we regress and adopt the Native Americans (millenia old) ways once again in order to save the planet and enrich our connection to the universe through the Spirit of nature)

Sometimes, one has to fall back, in order to move forward.

"May the Force be with you"...is a literal Native American blessing.

Correct Lily,.....The Lakota did not use the Yowe Kachina .

This thread should be more about how people jump on a story without seeing if it's really true.
