When Northwest sought steep pay cuts in 2005 in an effort to avoid bankruptcy, AMFA led about 4,400 workers out on strike. It was a huge gamble that failed spectacularly. Northwest suffered some operational hiccups but kept flying. Northwest replaced them all by the end of the year with a mix of new hires and union members who crossed the picket line.

The strike officially ended in November 2006 when the union ratified a deal that mostly gave Northwest the terms it had already won.

They get a double raise. Union dues cease immediately and they are brought up to Delta AMT scale. I am glad, they deserve it after what they went through. Welcome!!

You may want to wait on that statement until you see what caliber these mechanics are.
You may feel differently that they are making the same amount of money as you, but know nothing and/or do nothing. Time will tell.

Those are not Northwest Mechanics. The Northwest Mechanics have long since moved on. You have bottom feeders who were never qualified to land a mechanic job with an airline until the masses walked out or were locked out. The scabs that crossed were the ones who had legal problems, drug problems, or the ones who did not have enough skill to land a decent job outside of the pittance that NWA offered.

These people that are now Delta employees would never have made it passed the opening of the application envelope.

Not quite, the furlough list is just about exhausted. The only guys that are still on the list are the guys that turned down the call back the first time, and they are getting their final calls.

Aren't a lot of those NW mechanics now working for Delta prestrike NW mechanics who crossed their own picket line? What about the ones who put their name on the return list (but not yet needed by NW) before the strike was officially over?

Yes, there are many of those. Like I said, many of those are ones who had legal problems while working for NWA. Had they left, they would have had to disclose that information to a new employer, or it would have been found during a background check. There were not many non-scabs who were actually recalled and did not retire immediately.

That list is also out there. People know who wanted to go back and scab...and didn't even get called back for that.

I used to have a copy of the video, but I tossed it in a hard drive "purge" awhile ago... I think it was from a MSP TV station, if someone wants to do a search.

P.S. I wonder if the "Sprayee" ever sued/pressed charges, etc.?
