They still have something like $5B in cash in the bank and could acquire controlling interest in any of those five airlines for that much, or less."A source familiar with the situation said AMR sees itself as an acquirer in potential mergers "
good luck with that part as long as you're in BK
that must be Horton's fantasy to get his mega pay off

Interference abounds....from US Airways... Geezus people...AA is financing their own BK and has $5 B in the bank....they'll be handing that $$$$B over to the acquiring airline. Unfriggin believable. USAirways can help purchase AA with AA's money This is such a shame, really.
.Here's an interesting article to ponder...comments please...

You have your head so far up your ass it's not even funny .. WTF are you talking about ? Parker will and is getting all the financing he needs . I swear some of you. Are so unbelievable with the crap you type up .That is why it won't happen. Nobody will let Parker get a chance to destroy this deal. Wall Street is backing Horton because they know they will get paid. Parker can't deliver a pizza let alone deliver an airline deal.
When Horton goes to the money dealers on Wall Street, he will win out over Parker in a second as to who drives the deal. Who would you take? The guy who has blown 5 attempts or the guy who runs AMR? Horton wins hands down.Nobody will let Parker notch another loss on merging and have their names attached to it. They go with the guy who will be able to pull it off, and that is Horton.
no matter what you or I think about Parker, I have always heard he can come up with money if nothing else, this shows he has support on Wall street.
I don't disagree. What I am questioning is the frequently repeated assertion that Parker has some unusual ability to raise funds that is not possessed by others, and that's just nonsense. As the Delta experience showed, lining up financing doesn't necessarily close the deal. Some guy named Richard Anderson is in charge at DL, not Doug Parker. Despite his desperation to be in charge at AA, his ability to arrange financing may not accomplish that goal either.Keep in mind that Parker had the financing lined up for the DL deal, and I'm sure he already has it for AA.
I'm not saying that it will, and for the record I would just soon this abortion of a merger never take place.I don't disagree.
