For the 2009 executive PUP plan...

For the 2009 executive PUP plan...

Hopeful:

AMR is going to create more debt, hence the reference to unencumbered assets.

The PUP plan is financed by creating new stock and giving it to the execs for immediate sale, thereby causing share dilution and lower asset values for those who are already holders of the stock - i. e., the bonuses are paid for out of shareholder value which there doesn't seem to be a helluva lot of at this point.

All three unions and the board of directors deserve to have there useless asses kicked out of office over these payouts.

Unions? We have pro company unions, especially the TWU whose main concern is union dues....that's it..

Board of directors? these are anti worker, anti union pro business people who are all for excessive executive pay most like because most of them are executives at other companies who want their board of directors to wash their backs as well.

More cash - "For what?" you ask? Perhaps to pay for the 70 brand new 738s that are coming in 2009-10 and to help pay the estimated $9 billion plus fuel bill this year. Perhaps to help maintain the cash cushion that might help AA avoid ch 11 later this year.

In any event, let's not get too worked up over the writings of an analyst.

I read a day or three ago about other airlines wanting to forego their scheduled aircraft deliveries for the foreseeable future - I give odds AA is in there wanting those build slots.

We'll probably see a few more than 70 738s delivered if that happens, however, it will be at the peril of maintenance - new aircraft seldom need more than A and B checks for a while and with Goodrich doing the 'bare-minimum' maintenance upon parking or lease return, ...
