I was not old enough to know what was going on in the late 60's early 70's. All I can do is read as much as I can about it and that seems to be the consensus. The Southern Dems jumped ship when Civil Rights act passed. They became the republicans of today.

Not arguing about Nixons politics but how the elections were run. The south used to be a primarily democrat region. The whites jumped ship to the RNC. Seems top have worked quite well.

I do not agree that only one group can be courted at a time. Why would blacks be curbed when Dems court the Hispanic vote?

Looks like the USS Sanford may have sprung a leak and is taking on water fast. Seems the NRCC has pulled their support from his campaign. According to the NRCC they decided to call it quits when it heard about the court documents accusing Sanford of trespassing in his ec-wifes home. The NRCC apparently felt this would make it difficult for him to win the female vote. WTH?? That is what put him over the edge and not the cheating on his wife with a mistress in S America while lying about it to his electorate?

Do you think Mr Paul was correct in his inference that republicans and Dems of today are the same republicans and dems of the 50's and 60's? If so do you have any supporting evidence?

The historical fact of the matter is that the southern democrats who were in favor of segregation later became the republican party of today.

Then you can look at Nixon and his Southern Policy. In a nut shell he accepted that the RNC would only get 10%-20% of the black vote and that is all they needed. He reasoned that the more blacks who registered to vote in the south, the more whites who would defect from the DNC and head over to the republicans. Ended up working like a charm.

Republicans can try to rewrite history all they want but reality is what it is. History has been documented and it is not kind to republicans in regard to race.

Back to my original question, after your shucking and jiving !

None of your concern. More over , why would you even bother to ask. This is an internet forum. I could tell you I was born in Moscow, Frankfurt, Hafia, Karachi or Anchorage. I could tell you anything I wanted and you would have no way of verifying it since you do not know who I am so again, why would you even bother to ask? It has nothing to do with the conversation.</p>

Are you just going to take my word for it? You say you were born in FL. BFD. do not know that you were or weren't and it does not make one bit of difference. This is the internet. You can be who ever you want. You could be an eighty year old Russian from the Politburo for all I know or care. I look at what you write and that is it.

I have never really understood the concept of being proud of ones heritage. That seem like some one who is proud of the fact that they breath. It is beyond their control. I am proud of the things that I have accomplished. I am not sure how or why I should be proud of things that I did not contribute to.


My heritage come with my passport and can be read about in a history book. Big whoop.
