I was not old enough to know what was going on in the late 60's early 70's. All I can do is read as much as I can about it and that seems to be the consensus. The Southern Dems jumped ship when Civil Rights act passed. They became the republicans of today.
Not arguing about Nixons politics but how the elections were run. The south used to be a primarily democrat region. The whites jumped ship to the RNC. Seems top have worked quite well.
I do not agree that only one group can be courted at a time. Why would blacks be curbed when Dems court the Hispanic vote?
